We just got home from a great ski vacation! This house was what we were hoping for with just a couple minor issues.
First, the location was fantastic. We didn't realize it was about 10 minutes to a separate Killington base area - the SkyeShop lodge and gondola. This was incredibly convenient - easy to get to, plenty of parking, and a nice wandering trail to ski back to at the end of the day. It was far away from the hustle and bustle of the main base areas and we agreed it saved us at least a half hour of time at the beginning and end of the day.
The house is up a fairly steep road, so you'll want 4-wheel drive in the winter time. We were lucky enough to get 5" of fresh snow overnight. We were able to get out in the morning, and by the time we got back the road had been freshly plowed.
The bedrooms and overall layout were exactly as advertised. The pictures accurately reflect the house and there were no surprises. We had two families of 4 adults and 7 kids and had tons of space. The kids enjoyed the downstairs playroom and foosball table, and we all enjoyed the hot tub every night.
There were two issues. First, the water supply was not working right our first night, with very irregular and even nonexistent water pressure. This made showers difficult and some of our party had to miss out. We contacted the owner and the problem was resolved quickly the next day. Apparently there was a water filter that was clogged. I mention this just in case you run into this issue. Second, the rental listing advertises a Wii. There is one, but it did not work properly. It was in black/white only. I was able to determine that the video connections were not accurate. I believe the TV was recently replaced and it needs a different cable to work with the Wii (component vs. composite) as the new TV doesn’t have the right video inputs to match the cable on hand. Related, I tried swapping in the TV from the master bedroom which did have the right input, but it didn't work either as that TV got no video signal at all. It wasn't working in the master bedroom either and I believe it has a hardware issue. I made the owner aware so hopefully this will all be resolved. We didn't let any of this spoil our trip - we wouldn't have used the master TV anyway and not having the Wii wasn't a big deal either. I mention these again only in case you run into it.
But overall this was a great house and we would stay here again. Enjoy!
