    If you think you might be seeing a duplicate listing, you are not! We, "Dam Near Lake of Egypt Cabins" (pun intended), have 2 identical cabins just for you! THE CABIN This cabin, called The Yellow Door cabin, is a sleek and modern new cabin built in 2018. Tiny house lovers will be very impressed with the well-appointed layout of this 560 square foot cabin. The cabins were designed by local talent and built on-site by the owners. Therefore we take a ridiculous amount of pride in every detail of your stay from cleanliness to hospitality. LOCATION One of our best features is that we are centrally located to all things "southern Illinois". Most importantly, we are just 4 miles from the I-57 and I-24 split, making it easy access for you. Our most favorite summer feature, Lake of Egypt is only 1/2 mile away. Within a 30 minute drive you can find yourself hiking and finding waterfalls at Ferne Clyffe State Park and Giant City State Park, biking though a 1/2 mile tunnel on the Tunnel Hill Bike Trail, or sipping wine at 5-6 different wineries including Blue Sky, Starview, Honker Hill, Katy-Lynn, Bella T, Walker's Bluff. We are official members of the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail Lodging Association. We also have some amazing up and coming micro brews nearby. Garden of the Gods is exactly 1 hour car ride, with plenty of great stops along the way. OCCUPANCY You may have notice this is a one bedroom that sleeps 6. Ideally, the cabins were meant for couples and couples, like ourselves with small children. The sleeping arrangements are as follows: 1 queen bed in the bedroom and 1 queen in the loft (sleeping room only). We have had many groups of 4 adults in one cabin, but please consider your group for the ideal set up. Remember, we have an identical cabin and you can rent both at the same time if that suits your needs better. There is room for an air mattress and we have one available upon request. PETS Did I mention we are pet friendly? Let's talk about that (skip this paragraph if you could care less- BUT know we charge extra because we make the cabin so clean that you would think we do not allow pets.) We love pets. We have too many ourselves. Here are the things to note: We do not limit dog size or breed. Please note that our dogs, Ariel and Rocco live on the premise and are free-range farm dogs. We also charge $30 per pet, per stay. If you plan to leave your pet unaccompanied, we have a large create for you to use. If your pet is scared of other dogs or do not get along well with others, please let us know beforehand and we will keep ours indoors during your stay.       Great Girls Getaway Weekend

      Great place at reasonable price. Loved that I could bring my dog along for the trip! Easy access to trails, Fern Clyffe State park, and wineries. Owner was quick to respond to the mix up with the dog Kennel request, and even was nice enough to get my dog into the kennel once the kennel arrived while we were out. Power went out the first night at no fault of the owners. It was a rare occurrence the power going off in mid October. We were able to make some calls to figure out who the power company was to determine a large outage. As a suggestion to the owner, which we discussed in person, add the SouthEastern Electric Co-op contact and outage link to the cabins information page in the binder of local contacts. Will definitely book future getaways at the Cabins! They have future plans to expand in a wonderful location.

        Perfect Writer's Retreat/Creative Sabbatical

        I selected this cabin for a writing retreat/creative sabbatical. The location is just secluded enough to maintain a distraction-free environment while being close enough to local wineries and hiking for when i wanted to venture out and take a break from writing. I was amazingly productive here and would recommend it to anyone who is (a) looking to getaway from the distractions and stress of everyday life, and/or (b) searching for a place to give yourself a writing retreat or creative sabbatical. The cabin is perfect for a solo traveller. Allison gave great advice on the local wineries and checked in with me during my stay to make sure I had everything I needed. It was everything I had hoped it would be!

          Great stay in Marion, IL

          We had a wonderful time at the Dam Near Lake of Egypt Yellow Door Cabin. We really enjoy how peaceful it is here. No crazy traffic jams or air plane noise like what we experience in Chicago. There is lots to do. You will need a few days just taking in the Shawnee National Forest and to do the wine trail. The cabin was clean and comfortable for us. And we were greeted and sent on our way with and escort by Allison and Mike's sweet dogs.

              Small but beautiful

              Rented this while at a family reunion. It was convenient to the reunion site but more importantly, clean and well decorated. A lot put into a small space. Great place to stay!
