Nice house but Ludovic lacks the communication skills to make your stay a great experience
My time at Ludovic's house was not what my wife and I were hoping it would be. The reservation process went smoothly enough, but he was a little slow to respond to questions. Then 10 hours before our flight, he sent me a note that his house was actually already booked for the first two nights of our stay. He had found this out over 24 hours earlier. We would stay somewhere else for two nights and then head to his house for the other 3 nights. He did not give us an address for either property. I was extremely upset and concerned that we had no idea where we were going, and Ludovic did not respond to any of messages. The next morning I was sure I would have a response from him, but it wasn't until we landed in Guadeloupe that he replied once again saying "all is arranged." When we arrived on Marie Galante, Ludovic had set up a car rental for us. His housekeeper met us and took us to the new house. Thankfully it turned out to be nice enough, but not near the quality that we had paid for. After one day on the island, we had to plan our day around packing to move to Ludovic's house in the afternoon. It was unfortunate that we had to spend an afternoon doing this this given our short trip. As for Ludovic's house, it was nice and the pictures are accurate, but the stay was just ok. We had gardeners, and pool cleaners, and people tending to cattle coming onto the property at various times every day. It did not make for much privacy. The beds were another big issue. The mattresses were extremely uncomfortable and the bed frames made so much noise that my wife and I had to sleep in separate rooms. I have honestly never heard a bed squeak so loudly from just rolling over. I also would have expected some form or welcome guide or packet for such an expensive rental. We are five star AirBnB hosts and have a very detailed guide on the house and the surrounding area. When we left Ludovic's home, we didn't even know what to do with the key. No instructions on what to do with trash, etc. All in all, Ludovic's house was fine, but his lack of communication and unwillingness to refund us the difference in cost of the house we stayed in the first two nights is disappointing.
