    About this property

Walk to the Water, a Small Public Beach and Downtown Rockland!

Vacation home in Rockland with kitchen and patio
Rockland Harbor Watch is the answer to what a lot of visitors to the Midcoast area want – a property that is in town, walkable and where is a car isn’t necessarily needed. Rockland Harbor Watch is the newly renovated first floor of a classic Sea Captain’s House in the coveted and up and coming area of Rockland Maine known as the South End. The South End has become popular because it has a neighborhood feel in the midst of a city, walkability and close proximity to the harbor. The house is one block away from the Rockland Harbor, the boardwalk and a small, public beach. Outdoor space coupled with a comfortable and welcoming interior make Rockland Harbor Watch a fantastic choice of Midcoast Maine vacation rentals. Walk to the water, the schooners, the Farmer’s Markets and Rockland’s lively and chic downtown area for dinner or to tour fantastic, world class galleries, museums and live performance venues. The master bedroom is large with natural light, hardwood floors and high ceilings that are in keeping with the age and style of the house. The master has a king bed, ample lighting for nighttime reading and a flat screen television with cable access. The second bedroom has a double bed, again with high ceilings and natural light. This bedroom is off a small sitting/den area and is across the hall from the full bathroom – this bathroom has a tub only. The living room is large and at the center of the residence with plenty of new, comfortable furniture and a flat screen television a with basic cable channels. This room leads to the dining room which has seating for 6 and is located directly off the kitchen. The kitchen has a breakfast table, modern appliances and peek-a-boo views of the harbor. Off the kitchen find a full bathroom with a shower and a new, extra deep 2 person soaking tub. Not only is Rockland Harbor Watch a perfect way to spend summer in Maine, the holidays are spectacular as well. Just after Thanksgiving join the community in celebrating the kick off to the Holiday Season with the lighting of the Lobster Trap Christmas Tree and the Festival of Lights parade. There is always something to do! Off the kitchen is a large, sunny deck with outdoor seating, a propane grill and small gardens with fruit trees. Due to the age of the property it is not recommended for small children/toddlers. This property is available monthly from October to May please inquire for monthly rate and terms.

      Not what we expected

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was somewhat unhappy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The home was not exactly as described. There was no TV in the bedroom, the entry to kitchen (which you had to pass through to get to the only shower) was very narrow, I could not walk through without turning sideways. The paint was peeling on the ceiling in the bedroom directly above the bed. The handle on the faucet in the bathroom was broken and I almost cut my hand on it. There were curlers on the floor under the foot stool in the living room. Summermaine did reply very quickly to my email, but at that point it was of little help. We have rented several properties in and around the Rockland area and this is the only place we will never rent again.

        Not what we expected

This property is a rental, plain and simple. The description is not all that accurate and had a few issues with cleanliness. The entry to the kitchen (you have to go through the kitchen to take a shower) is very narrow. The paint is peeling off the ceiling in the bedroom . There was no TV in the bedroom. We have used HomeAway for the last 5 years to go to Maine, this is the first time we would not ever rent this property again. Normally the places we find here are exactly what they are listed as, Homes Away from your home. This was not a home, it was a rental property used as a rental property. I would stay clear of this place unless you really wanted to experience Rokaland as resident renter.
