    About this property

Beautiful, Spacious In-town Camden Home With Lots of Outdoor Spacelocation

Family-friendly vacation home with outdoor tennis court and spa tub
Chestnut House is a beautiful four bedroom Italianate built in 1850 and located within the Chestnut Street Historic District in Camden, Maine. The property has partial harbor and ocean views and is located in easy walking distance to the shops and restaurants of downtown Camden, Camden Harbor, the Camden Yacht Club, Laite Public Beach, and the PenBay YMCA. The home has a large private garden, a HotSpring Grandee 7-person hot tub, wrap-around porches, and parking for four vehicles. There are four bedrooms and three bathrooms. A boat slip on Camden harbor is available for an additional fee, this is a rare offering and boats can be rented by the day or week from local dealers. Chestnut Street is considered one of the finest streets in town, and is located away from the busy route 1 traffic which backs up all summer long, especially on High Street where the majority of B&Bs are located. Wake up to the smell of the ocean in the morning and walk to the beach for a morning swim or just relax on the porch with a cup of coffee! Chestnut House is from another era with its spacious layout and Italianate charm, while having all the comforts and amenities of a modern home. Chestnut House is a solid, well- built home that could not affordably be recreated today. Chestnut House is available year round and delightful in all the seasons, but for July and August we encourage you to book early as the weeks fill up. We look forward to your stay! Jen & Jim

Big house in a great location

For people needing a larger house but still in town this is a good choice. There is plenty of room for a larger group, but it is an easy walk to the town/harbor/restaurants. Camden has a good selection of shops and restaurants but is not as big or crazy as some towns in coastal Maine. Owners were very responsive to the questions that we had.

        Spacious and lovely

We had 3 generations here for a marvelous week. The house and grounds are perfectly suited for a large group: plenty of space for gathering as well as separate areas we set up as family "suites". We especially loved the huge fenced-in backyard with a playset and the many outdoor gathering and sitting spaces! The proximity to both town and Laite beach were bonuses!

          Wonderful family vacation home

We had a wonderful week at this spacious and pretty house on a quiet street right in town. We enjoyed walking to the beach and playing in the backyard. Outdoor deck was perfect for dinner, and there was plenty of room in the kitchen for lots of cooks. Thank you, Jim, for accommodating all of our requests. We loved the house!

          5/5 Excellent

Could not have been more perfect!

We hosted a large group for my husband's 50th bday in Camden. People came from all over the country - eleven stayed in the house and more attended the lobster bake we had in the backyard of this wonderful house. First, the house is designed for a group. Everyone can spread out or be together. Using the studio, eleven fit perfectly with everyone having their own bed and no one on pull-out couches. It is hard to tell from the pictures the scale of the backyard. It is enormous. We spent most of our time on the deck, which is perfect for entertaining. We had a birthday party, but I could see a wedding or other events here. The location of the house was also terrific - a block from the water and a small beach, a short walk into town with shops, cafes, and the beautiful harbor. There was plenty to do in the region, no matter one's tastes - hiking, great food, even a huge TV for those watching the Olympics. Last, the owner's hospitality exceeded expectations by answering our many questions and taking care of our every need. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else in the mid-coast region. Thank you so much for everything!
