Perfect location, historic ambience and service.
This hotel wins the trifecta. 1) Perfect location, right in the heart of Salem and all the historic attractions. 2) Historic ambience in a hotel that retains a sense of grandeur and real classiness 3) Customer service that goes far beyond anything I've ever seen. I wanted to use my HDMI output from my computer on my room's TV, but the TV wasn't working properly. Eric the Manager personally came up to my room with a digital projector and set it up so I could use my wall as my own private movie theater. And other hotel staff were always helping me with all of my special requests and questions. The Hawthorne is a true gem and a rarity in how it excels in all categories. If you travel to Salem, you owe it to yourself to check this place out.
