    About this property

    Lake Whatcom Retreat

Vacation home in Bellingham with kitchen and patio
Perfect for outdoor fun. One hundred yards to public beach and 1/2 mile to trails in a city obsessed with trails. Bloedel Donovan Park is one mile away. It has a boat launch, playground and swimming area. The northeast corner of Whatcom Falls Park is also about one mile away. It is Bellingham's largest park with extensive trails, a fishing pond (14 and under only), fish hatchery, two playgrounds, tennis courts, basketball court, bicycle pump track, and of course, Whatcom Falls. There is a trail head to Galbraith Mountain about 2 1/2 miles away. It is a favorite with mountain bikers and trail runners. For driving distances, it is 15 minutes to downtown Bellingham and the Bellingham Bay waterfront, 20 minutes to Boulevard Park and Western Washington University, and 90 minutes to Mt Baker ski area. We are 10 minutes from Barkley Village which has restaurants, shopping and Regal Movie theaters. The house is an open and sunny single level home with just over 1500 square feet. It was built in 1924. There are three bedrooms, one with a King, one with a Queen, and one with a Double over Double plus Twin bunk bed. We purchased the home in 2014. Our very nice tenants moved out in December. It seemed like a good idea to turn this into a vacation rental as it has so many things going for it. However, it needed lots of work. For the past several months we have cleaned, painted or replaced every square inch. We think it turned out great and hope you like it too.
Guest accommodations at this vacation home offer DVD players and coffee/tea makers. Rooms open to patios. Kitchens offer refrigerators, stovetops, microwaves, and separate dining areas. Bathrooms include shower/tub combinations. Cribs/infant beds are also available.
The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or nearby; fees may apply.

Life is Better at the Lake

We had a very nice stay at the Crabtree's 3 bdrm home. The views of the lake were wonderful. We barbecued with friends and family while enjoying the view. The location is very convenient. The traffic noise was only noticeable when sitting on the deck during peak hours, but we just ignored it and played our music. The house is very clean and the Crabtree's were very gracious hosts.

          Silver Beach Treasure

4 of us stayed at Greg and Gayles lovely home overlooking Lake Whatcom. House was updated, warm and welcoming. Would recommend closet or hanging space in room with the bunk beds - but we just shared closet space in other rooms. We had a great time, enjoyed a bit of September sunshine swinging on the porch swing and shared quiet time and fun at every meal. Using the kitchen was easy and trouble free. This is not the season for heading to the water - but they had numerous ways to enjoy the lake on warm summer days. Great place and reasonably priced.

              Silver Lake Gem

We loved the little house on the lake! It had everything we needed to make our stay feel like a vacation: kayaks, fire pit for roasting marshmallows, porch swing, amazing sunsets. It was perfectly clean, and nicely appointed with linens, a Keurig, and tasteful decor. Gayle and Greg were very responsive and some of the most gracious hosts I have experienced. We can’t wait to come back!
