Quiet, Secluded, Peaceful
If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful get away, this could be the place for you. The house is located down a secluded road and driveway. Woods separate you from the neighbors (can see and hear them on one side but it still has a secluded feel). There is plenty of room for a family to spread out. The deck and the bench near the water are perfect spots for a morning cup of coffee. The dining area is also a great spot to look out over the water and watch the boats come in and out. There are two kayaks which is awesome. There are also two bikes but both needed air in the tires and we could not find an air pump :-(. We took an Island Airways plane to the Island, which is an good experience all its own. The Island Airways folks were very friendly and I would recommend the plane for those who don't want the long ferry ride. Also, the ferry does not run on some days (check the schedule before you book your trip). Our trip was in mid-September and a lot of the businesses on the Island were shut down for the season. However, my wife and I had a good time just exploring the Island and relaxing in the house. A couple of things prevent me from giving a 4 or 5 star rating. The first is the cleaning. When we arrived there was trash in the trash cans, crumbs on the counter, and the floors were in desperate need of sweeping & mopping. The person who cleans did stop by on our second day on the Island and my wife is convinced she forgot which day we were scheduled to arrive and thought she was there to clean. Also, bringing your own linens is an inconvenience (this is the 1st VRBO I have stayed at that did not supply linens). Also, the living room carpet is very stained (not a big deal but could use a cleaning). The other issue we had was the house was full of some type of gnat or drain fly. The kitchen literally had a cloud of these flies over the sink. Overall, it was a good experience but not my best trip with VRBO.
