    About this property

Waterfront Elegant 1906 Victorian With Stunning Ocean Views

Stay in this heirloom 1906 Queen Anne Victorian oceanfront home on the Moosebec Reach at the edge of historic Jonesport, a working lobstering village in quaint Downeast Maine. Wake up each morning to the rising sun and the sound of lobster boats. Walk out the door and have your morning coffee at your own private beach. Stroll down to a nearby lobster co-op to pick inexpensive fresh lobster for your dinner to go with the local blueberries (Washington County produces 80% of the nation's blueberries!) to bake into pies and pancakes or just to eat by the handfuls. In the evenings, watch the sun set over the water of the Moosebec Reach and savor the reflections on the water of Beals and Great Wass Islands. This historic waterfront Victorian house, which has been restored and equipped with antiques as well as with modern appliances, is perfect for guests wanting to stay in an architectural gem by the ocean. Jonesport is close to Machias, home to the Blueberry Festival in August, as well as the Historic Burnham Tavern (1770) and the University of Maine with its fitness center open to the public. There are numerous opportunities for antiquing in the surrounding areas.

    Beautiful home!

We LOVED our stay in this house! What a beautiful home and location. My favorite rooms were the master bedroom and kitchen-great views of the water. So pleasant to read on that chaise in the bedroom. We also loved eating our meals and playing cards at the kitchen table while watching the water. My children enjoyed walking the beach at low tide to collect sea glass and spent an entire day using the kayaks. We did cook a few meals in the kitchen including lobster from the co-op and had everything we needed in the well equipped kitchen. Our favorite outing while we were there was our drive up to see the Quoddy point lighthouse in Lubic. Gorgeous views of the coastline there. Definitely worth the daytrip! As it’s hard to tell from the picture, the house is close to the road and there is quite a bit of early morning traffic from the lobstermen, otherwise quiet and peaceful. Beds were comfy, plenty of hot water for showers and owners and caretakers were quick to respond if needed. As someone who sunburns easily, I would have liked to have one of those swings with an umbrella outside to sit on as it’s very sunny where the Adirondack chairs are with no shade. But we really enjoyed sitting out by the water watching the boats and the kids swimming. We also recommend the food truck next door-yummy breakfast sandwiches and baked goods! We have many happy memories of our vacation. Thank you so very much for sharing your house with us!!

    Amazing home, amazing location

The home has been lovingly restored and modern amenities added. The layout is fantastic and Jonesport and Beals Island are very special places. Not often you'll find a landscape so beautiful and at the same time, so little travelled. Both Rodney and the local caretakers were incredibly helpful and communication was great.

We had three couples in our group and we all loved our stay in this home. You cannot beat the view out the back. If you are looking for a lobster community away from tourists, this is your spot. Some of us used the kayaks (provided), some hiked spectacular nearby trails, and some simply enjoyed the peaceful setting. If you want to prepare your own lobster, the house has everything you need. The kitchen and breakfast nook overlook the water. The bath has the period feel with a claw foot tub, but also a modern shower. The beds were very comfortable, and each room was spacious and decorated nicely. To be honest, some might be bothered by the early morning traffic if you open the windows. Even though it's VERY quiet most of the day, lobstermen go to work early and the front of the house is very near the road. There is a grocery store nearby and a couple of places where you can take out food. You will need to travel 20-30 minutes if you are looking for a sit down dining experience. Wild Blueberry Land is less than 10 miles away. It's definitely touristy, but has incredible wild blueberry pie and the staff is so friendly. Take your passports and drive to Roosevelt Campobello International Park. This gorgeous home in Jonesport was the perfect home base for our vacation!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home in Jonesport, Maine. We loved the location and used it as a base to explore north and south. The views from the house are picture perfect.
