It felt like ... home.
The experience of this property was incredible from the beginning to the end with Andy loading my suitcase as we said goodbye. He has truly created an atmosphere of ... coming home. Temperatures were nearly 100 degrees the entire week I was in Texas yet the grounds were lush and green with so many trees and birds, it created the perfect atmosphere with breezes to blow away the heat from the day. From the house there is a walkway down the property to the Colorado river with beautiful flowering trees and plants where Andy has carved out individual and unique spaces for any personality. Mine took me to the bank of the river with a book and a drink reading until the sun was gone only to enjoy the evening moon and music of the night. My last day I decided to stick my foot in the river and as everyone but apparently me would expect, my flip flop came off so I jumped in to save it. But then spent the next glorious 90 minutes wading in the warm and slightly fast moving river and sitting on a log in the middle of it enjoying the incredible surroundings. I sent some pictures to a friend who said they didn't know Texas could be so pretty. The inside of the home was perfect for me. Like an A-Frame cabin with my own private porch to enjoy the mornings - one morning I spied Andy lovingly it seemed taking care of his property. Furnished with the perfect amenities, comfortable bedding and temperature, I had all I needed after long days at work to ready myself for the next day. The town of Bastrop has many delicious options for meals and enough stores to keep anyone happy and close enough to Austin for day trips. If you choose this place, if you allow yourself to quiet, you will leave refreshed and ready to take on the next thing life has in store for you. I can't wait to come back to enjoy the home, property, and conversation with Andy. For me it felt like homemade bread, warm chocolate chip cookies, fresh linen. Well, like going .... home.
