Bar Harbor itself is, unfortunately, a typical big tourist town, with lots of T-shirt shops and kitschy stuff. But the Manor House Inn is a BIG exception. It is a historical register building, lovingly maintained. It is beyond charming. Breakfasts are lovely, but I have to say the afternoon tea is so delightful.

    Fall Foliage Trip

Wonderful trip! Bar Harbor is a lovely town, nice people with plenty to do or not if you choose. The Manor House is in a great location close to everything yet far enough away you aren’t in the way of the cruise ship crowds. Breakfast is delightful and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We will stay here again when we return next year!

Lovely inn in a great location. Extremely clean and pleasant, with large rooms and comfortable beds. The common area was very relaxing and the breakfasts and teas very nice. Staff was very helpful, pointing out ideas for sightseeing that we might have missed. Highly recommended.

Fantastic Inn with a few quirks

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights. Beautiful inn and even better amenities and service. Great location only two blocks from downtown. The highlight I think is the homemade breakfast each morning made by the in-house chef Kathy. It was delicious. There were however a couple drawbacks . First was the lack of parking organization. We went during peak fall season with no vacancy. Parking is either a few designated spots on the back of the house , otherwise it’s first come first serve parallel parking along the fence. There were several nights that due to people leaving about 6 feet of space between cars we couldn’t find a spot and had to “make one up” and park along the grass. The other thing to keep in mind is that being an old house is there is NO sound insulation whatsoever. Every door closing, floor squeak, or above average conversation is heard. If you’re light sleepers like we are, it’s probably best to bring ear plugs or request a top floor room .
