Very cozy and comfortable. Not one possible complaint and fresh eggs were a special surprise bonus!

Our very favorite vacation rental!

Lovely setting, clean, comfortable, cozy, charming - not enough words to describe our good experience at the Cottage in the Barn. The owners are hospitable and gracious with good advice on what to see and do and how to get there - they also shared fresh eggs, tomatoes and zucchini bread with us. Their dog, Marge, is a wonderful greeter! Even though this cottage is on the same property as the owners, it was very private, quiet and a true getaway. We found it was convenient to so many things we wanted to do, especially hiking, and we loved the fact that there was no TV, but a wonderful assortment of books about the area and CDs. The kitchen supplies were such that we ate most breakfasts and dinners at home and packed a lunch for all our excursions. We did enjoy eating at the Pickled Wrinkle a couple of times, though! And there was a lovely small bakery in Winter Harbor that had amazing rhubarb tarts - the perfect treat after watching the sun rise on Schoodic Point! Originally, we booked a shorter stay, but loved the place so much, we extended our time there. We highly recommend the Cottage in the Barn and hope that we will be able to stay there again in the future.

We loved it!

My husband and I had an amazing, relaxing week in Prospect Harbor and the surrounding area. Thanks to Carol and John! They were kind and gracious hosts, and I was also able to get my daily puppy love with Marge. The cottage was immaculate, newly renovated, comfortable ~ and waking up to fresh eggs from Carol and John's hens was an added bonus! We did everything we expected to do.....since it is our first time to the area, we were a little surprised at the crowds in Acadia this time of year (cruise ships contributing a bit to that) BUT Schoodic much less crowded and so beautiful, you almost didn't have to go to Bar Harbor (but would stiff recommend it!). I cannot say enough good things....we will be back someday! Quite possibly, not return ;-)

Fantastic Getaway, very pleasant!

The property is wonderful, far away from the hustle and bustle of busy life. The cottage is very quiet and welcoming. The owners are very nice and recommended things to see and do, they even offered their kayaks for a trip up the marsh! Private access to the marsh, peaceful beach at the end of the road, not a bad drive to Acadia National Park. Beautiful, quiet nights for star gazing. Quick trip to Schoodic Point to watch the sunset. I highly recommend a stay at the cottage!
