    About this property

The Brick House in the Woods...a Four-season Retreat! Room for a Large Family!

The Brick House in the Woods Prospect, Maine This wonderful house is nestled in the woods on 20 private acres. No matter the season, you will be comfortable and content during your visit. There is a gas fireplace in the living room and a wood-burning fireplace in the den (wood is available in the shed). Our home also boasts a heat pump for comfort during warm days of summer, as well as warding off the chill of cool, fall days or the cold of winter nights. If there's a power outage, no worries! We just installed a Generac propane generator! Off the den, there's a 3-season sunroom, and in summer, a screen room on the patio in the backyard. There are four bedrooms upstairs, and an office/ bedroom downstairs. In the den, there is a double bed pull-out sofa. We can comfortably accommodate 12 people. The kitchen is fully equipped, including small appliances, pots and pans, spices, and even flour, coffee, and sugar. Upstairs, there's a good supply of towels, sheets, blankets, and quilts. Upon arrival, you will find farm fresh eggs (seasonal) and other welcome surprises. WIFI is available, as well as a TV (antenna), a blue-ray player, great selection of DVD's, a cupboard full of board games for all ages, puzzles, and a wide variety of books. Your well-behaved dog is welcome, as long as it is currently treated with flea control and is on a leash or under your control when outside (we live next door and enjoy a dozen free-range hens.) The Brick House in the Woods is located approximately twenty minutes from the wonderful little city of Belfast where you’ll find many restaurants, a movie theater, and a beautiful oceanside trail, as well as several unique shops and art galleries. Halfway there, you’ll drive through Searsport, ” the antique capital of Maine”, where many interesting discoveries await. Travelling twenty minutes down Route 1 from Belfast will take you to Camden, a lively tourist destination, where restaurants and shops line Main Street, and the beauty of the harbor is a must-see. In winter, the Camden Snow Bowl is a perfect destination for skiers or snowboarders. Another nearby ski area is Hermon Mtn., in Hermon, approximately 30 minutes away. If you want to take a longer trip, Sunday River and Sugarloaf are both about a 2- 2 ½ hr. drive. Our house is approximately 30 minutes from Bangor International Airport, and an hour from Bar Harbor, where you’ll find spectacular Acadia National Park. Prospect is nearby several state parks: Swan Lake State Park in Swanville, Fort Point State Park, Moose Point State Park, and Fort Knox State Park, where you can visit the fort and view the beautiful panorama from atop the Penobscot Narrows Observatory. Bucksport is just across the bridge. There's a wonderful river walk in town, as well as restaurants, an antique shop, bakery, and winery, and much more. Snowmobilers welcome! Just up the road, is the ITS trail. You can go just about anywhere from here! There’s plenty of woods to explore right outside the back door, but if you are looking for nearby hiking trails, there are some a short distance away. We look forward to your visit, and will do our best to make your stay at "The Brick House in the Woods" memorable! Bayard and Susan Warren

        Home away from home...

Our first stay here and everything was as stated. You'll feel right at home as the setup is all about making it easy to enjoy yourself. It was a short stay but the complimentary fresh eggs and bottle of wine were just right the right touches to make our getaway weekend super relaxing.

            Great Home!

Susan's home was great for our group of 12. It had ample space, ample beds, and she even left us some extra food and a bottle of wine! We had a great time and if we are ever back in ME, we will definitely consider staying at her home!

              Amazing stay

The house was really spacious and carried pretty much everything we could need. Sue and Bayard also left us some produce from their garden - really sweet touch that made us feel welcome
