Spartan, inconvenient and pricey
The house is spacious and adequate. It has very spartan furnishings so each room has the minimum of furniture and some is careworn. There is no decor so it feels very bare. The main issue is that the door lock is on the front of the house but there is no place to park there except to block the road. Then one has to unlock the garage, run back to the car and drive a long distance around to get to the now open garage. The garage is too small to park anything but a mini-cooper or a smart car. The area has fences everywhere so one cannot simply walk around the house -- which is a sign that there is a fear for security -- and yet there is no security. There is nothing to walk to except a low quality convenience mart and not much close by to drive to either. When we called to ask about the lock situation we were met by a very irritated and rude person who acted like we were idiots (the entry system is inconvenient and idiotic). Also it had snowed there the day before but no one had bothered to clear the walk or steps so while you leave your car running blocking the road you get to run up icy snowy stairs *there are multiple. Lastly, although this place is on hotels.com there is no coffee or tea. As a business traveler who travels every single week, I expect a basic jar of beans or keurig pod -- since there are no stores nearby we were stuck. We have stayed in many guest houses and they usually include tips on stores nearby. We won't stay in this spartan place again.
