"Flat Rock is a beautiful craftsman home—woodwork, furnishings, and lighting create a cozy vacation spot! The rooms are laid out well, kitchen is well-stocked with a very large island which is great for food prep/food buffet. Bedrooms have good quality linens on comfortable beds, and plush towels are provided in the bathrooms. The large back deck was our gathering spot-terrific view from the lake when rocking in the rocking chairs or having a snack and glass of wine at the dining table. The walk down to the dock has overhead string lights that are on a timer, and there is a fire pit with chairs lakeside. Kayaks are provided (4, and there are life vests as well) and the lake is calm and shallow so even novice kayakers like myself felt comfortable. We spent a lot of time fishing and actually caught some! It was lovely having a dock to fish from, but a few of the deck boards need to be replaced so be careful. There were also large floaties for adults and my family had fun with those!
The house is very private which we loved. Trumansburg was the nearest town, Garrett’s beer was a hit, we bought tacos from the truck at the farmers market (on Wednesday from 4-7) and took them into Garrett’s to eat while sampling their beer. Also visited Lively Run Dairy, Cabin View Alpaca Farm, and Sheldrake Point Winery— would recommend all of them. Had food at Beers and Brats, it was delicious. Also had a spa day at Inns of Aurora Spa-an hour drive but well worth it. Gorgeous spa and brand new! Also visited all the falls!
We had a great time at Flat Rock, and felt it was a good home base to explore the Finger Lakes."
