Cheap Salt Lake City Vacations

Salt Lake City

Your Salt Lake City vacation

With its snow-capped mountains melting into vast green plains, you can see why pioneer Brigham Young ushered Salt Lake City into existence with the simple pronouncement that "this is the place." Brigham and his fellow Mormons literally put SLC on the map, and their influence is still felt everywhere from the striking Salt Lake Temple to the This is the Place Heritage Park. Add to that an effervescent arts and sporting culture that is both varied and inexpensive.

Let CheapTickets take the reins of your Salt Lake City vacation and lead you along the cheapest path through the Crossroads of the West.

  • Salt Lake City highlights
  • Temple Square

Tourist central in SLC, Temple Square is home to the city's biggest attractions. No Salt Lake City vacation would be complete without dropping by the infamous Temple itself, the world headquarters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Next door is the Salt Lake Tabernacle, home to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. You may have seen them on TV, but the live version is something else. You can watch for free on Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings.

  • Great Salt Lake

The largest saltwater lake in the western hemisphere, Great Salt Lake is a must-see on your Salt Lake City travels. Achingly beautiful, one of the main attractions here is Antelope Island which features a wealth of wildlife. Boating on the lake is a popular pastime, although sudden storms can make it a tricky proposition.

  • Clark Planetarium

The stars will be shining all the brighter at Salt Lake City's own planetarium. Although the IMAX theater and the major star show will cost you a small admission charge, there is an abundance of other fascinating exhibits to explore for free.

  • Fort Douglas Military Museum

From armored vehicles to massive, old cannons, the Military Museum is exploding with artifacts about America's military exploits -- even down to the classic regimental attire. Best of all, the Fort Douglas Military Museum is free.

  • Red Butte Garden Trail

Take a step off the beaten track on your Salt Lake City travels, and discover the real Utah with a stroll along the city's serene nature trails. With as much beauty as historical significance, Red Butte Garden Trail is located just minutes from the University of Utah, and is free to roam.
