If you love wildflowers, then July is a great time to plan Denver travel even though it can get fairly hot with 90 degree temperatures. Also visit the Rocky Mountains, where cooler temperatures make hiking and camping more comfortable, and the views are spectacular. Denver vacations are typically sunny and mild from May until August. Autumn months are great for milder temperatures and attending Denver's fun outdoor festivals. Keep in mind that in September Denver can have sudden cold temperatures. During the winter months, temperatures can drop into the teens at night. Nearby skiing and snowboarding are popular in the Rockies from November through March. Denver is famous for football in the fall. The Broncos always excite fans at Sports Authority Field at the new Mile High Stadium (previously known as Invesco Field). The famous Red Rocks Amphitheater, just outside of Denver, has amazing acoustics due to it outdoor natural rock formations.
