Canaletto Hotel Venice

3 stars
4.2 / 5 18 reviews
The Hotel is situated in the heart of the romantic city of Venice, in a very quiet position despite the fact it is just 200 m from the beautiful St. Mark's Square and the famous Rialto Bridge. It is the ideal starting point to set off through the alleys to discover the wonderful monuments and typical shops which hide all the ancient, fascinating mysteries of Venice. The hotel takes its name from the famous Venetian artist, Antonio Canal, who was known as Canaletto. Those rooms where the artist used to live (1697-1768) have now become our elegant hotel rooms. A friendly, elegant, romantic and quiet atmosphere furnished in typical 18th century Venetian style, with stuccowork, damask, hand lacquered and gilded furniture, Murano glass mirrors and lamps. All rooms are soundproofed and have private bathroom with shower or bath, air conditioning, telephone, minibar, sat TV, hair dryer and safe. There are also our superior rooms with views of the canal or the typical square with the well-curb. The elegant public rooms (breakfast room, bar, TV room, internet point) are all decorated with stuccowork and the antique smoothed lime finish, and have some lovely reproduction of Canaletto's works on the walls.A tax has been imposed by the city for stays beginning 1 October 2012, and will be collected directly at the property. Best time to take a vacation to Venice

  • Best Time to Go

The peak seasons to visit Venice are from late spring to early summer when the city’s weather is at its prime level. Securing accommodations and flights at an affordable rate is, however, a challenge during these seasons. Venice vacations are best booked around the time of the Carnival, which takes place for two weeks between February or the beginning of March. To avoid the influx of tourists, avoid booking Venice travel during late summer.

Insider tips for Venice travel

  • Alberoni Beach

Alberoni beach is quiet, relaxing, and situated on a nature reserve. Alberoni beach offers affordable accommodation rates for your Venice travel, and is located just 40 minutes away from the City of Canals.

  • Cannaregio

Idle your time away in the historical district of Cannaregio, home to the Guggenheim and the Accademia museums and the recently opened art museum Punta della Dogana.

  • Bonifacio

Enjoy sampling the delicious pastries baked at Bonifacio, which goes best with an aperitivi in the evenings.

  • Murano

Take a trip down to the glass-making isle of Murano, well known for its Venetian glass. You could visit the Museo del Vetro to get an insight on glass-making history before decided to invest in one of the ornaments.

  • St. Venice's Churches

While most of Venice’s churches are nestled amongst the hubbub of the city, you can choose to immerse yourself in the two freestanding churches at San Zulian and Angelo Raffaele.

Venice highlights

  • Venice highlights
  • Saint Mark's Square (Piazza San Marco)

Surrounded by Venice's famed architecture, Saint Mark's Square is the perfect place for an afternoon of wandering among the pigeons on your Venice travels. Grab an espresso and people-watch or use the opportunity to snap some photos that will leave your friends back at home green with envy. The square is famously prone to flooding. But curiously, that only adds to its appeal.

  • Saint Mark's Basilica (Basilica Di San Marco)

With a wealth of history and a truly breathtaking interior (not to mention the brilliant Byzantine facade), Saint Mark's Basilica has been the canvas for some of Europe's finest artists. Entry is free, but be sure to dress modestly and to keep your "oohs" and "ahhs" to a whisper.

  • Rialto Market (Mercato di Rialto)

To really immerse yourself in the spirit of the city on a Venice vacation, meander through the markets of the Rialto. With the booming Italian vendors, colorful fruit and vegetables and the olfactory mishmash of herbs and fresh-caught fish, you will truly be in for sensory overload here.

  • Grand Canal and Ponte di Rialto

For the classic photo opportunity on your Venice travels, look down on the Grand Canal from the vantage point of the famous Rialto Bridge. Watch the oarsmen navigate through the city, and then nestle into an osteria for a Northern Italian meal and a glass of sparkling prosecco.

  • Get lost

Curious advice, maybe, but the best (and cheapest) way to experience Venice is to just start walking. Before long, the cobblestone streets and serene waterways will transport you to another time. And if you find yourself truly astray, ask for directions to Piazza San Marco and start all over again.
