Cheap Munich Vacations
Your Munich vacation
From the buzz of the Marienplatz to iconic Oktoberfest, a Munich vacation offers plenty of low-funds fun. Hang at the Deutsch Museum and grab a cheesy pretzel – a Bavarian fave – at bakeries all over town. History buffs flock to the stately Feldherrenhalle and 17th century Theaterinerkirche. And for those craving a beer (or three), try the Hirschgarten for cheap ale and an amazing atmosphere.
Munich can transform from chic to wild by crossing the strasse, and CheapTickets can help you make that trip for less.

Munich highlights
-
-
Marienplatz
Gather at this Munich hotspot at 11 a.m. and midday to hear the famous Munich Glockenspiel chime and tweet with its little chirping bird. You're also bound to come across free historical reenactments of some kind. Hang around to watch Germans go about their daily business against the gothic backdrop of the Neues Rathaus -- the quintessential Munich travel experience.
-
Free walking tours
A Munich vacation essential. There are a number of companies offering free tours, but Sandemans New Europe is very reputable. The extremely knowledgeable guides work on a tips-only basis. While it's officially free, spend a few bucks if you think they're extra awesome.
-
Frauenkirche
This signature landmark has two tall towers that are free to explore, and afford some priceless views of the Munich skyline and snow-capped Bavarian Alps. Check out the stunning interior, which has a remarkable windowless effect from the main portal.
-
Residenz
The former royal palace was once home to the Bavarian monarchs and dates back to the 14th century. Wander around outside on your Munich travels to take pics of the grand exterior and then check out the impressive courtyards and history-rich gardens for free. If you want to visit the museum, admission is around $10.
-
Leopoldstrasse
A magnet for hipsters and bohemians, this famous stretch of poplar-lined road reveals the essence of the city. Nurse a coffee by day (or something stronger by night) and watch the people come and go. Striding above them is a 55-foot tall alien, a surreal vision against the surrounding Art Nouveau style.
