Edgewater Experience

I decided to stay Edgewater because of the location. Yes, it is waterfront hotel, the lobby had stunning view. I stayed 3 nights in the city view, it wasn't that bad like other reviewers described, except the mold smell from the shower curtain. There was wedding reception going on right above us, I could hardly get a sleep, but when we called the front desk, they did nothing but offered ear plugs. So if you can hold up with the ear plugs without sleep until midnight, this hotel is just right for you. Good thing the hotel was walking distance from most areas, and the hotel had shuttle to downtown Seattle.

Had to upgrade when we got there

Hotel was in a great location - but the room that Orbitz booked us in was TINY! It was up on the top floor, which had a very old, musty smell. The room could barely fit two people, and they claimed it was a king bed but I think it was a full size. We were able to upgrade to a King room, on the second floor, which was a decent size. Restaurant was great but very pricey. Staff were friendly and hotel was okay for cleanliness but certainly not updated, except for the bathrooms.

Great couple getaway

The view from this hotel is great the water and the Space Needle. Watched the ferry come and go and the cruise ships and a freight ship. Watched the parasailing and the Victoria Clipper was parked next door.

History and Views with excellent service!

We choose this hotel not knowing the musical history behind it. When we found out my husband the Old Rocker was lovin' it. The location, right on the water was so lovely and the view in the resturant always changing with the different water craft, however, our room was land side so we had an amazing view of the Space Needle. Service was excellent and even though our room was on the smallish side it was clean and fresh. I did miss not having a tub to enjoy the hot water, I seem to have a hard time finding hotels that have truly hot water and this one does. I guess because our room was so small we also didn't have any drawers for clothing but we made due with the closet shelf. The bathroom was very nice, all rock lined, georgous. We walked or took the bus most places. Food at the hotel and neighboring resturants was fabulous. It would be a good place to stay before or after a cruise as it is next to the cruise line dock.

Wonderful Getaway

We spent four days vacationing in Seattle and fell in love with the city. The Edgewater was a great place to stay - it was walking distance from Pike Market and the Space Needle. I loved the view of the Space Needle from our room. We had a wonderful dinner on the water at the Edgewater restaurant.

VERY disappointed with The Edgewater

After several stays in Seattle, this was the most disappointing hotel room (NOT 4-star) we had ever seen. Way overpriced. The hotel is in a decent location, but still a 15-minute walk to downtown Seattle & Pike Place Market. The room was ridiculously small with aged and outdated furnishings. There may have been nicer rooms, unfortunately ours included visible mold in the newly renovated shower. We spent four hours on our first day in Seattle trying to arrange alternate accommodations. The staff was very friendly and helpful; however, the quality of guest room did not meet the same level of satisfaction. TIP: there are significantly better rooms in downtown Seattle for less money.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Dine for lunch or dinner at Salty's on Alki. Great views of downtown Seattle from the south side of the bay and even better food. Make a reservation just before sunset and you will be presented with beautiful photo opportunities.

exudes a modern elegance

From the reviews, I'd feared we might be enduring historical plumbing and the like but not a bit of it. You wouldn't suspect its age for a moment from the room, the lobby, the lounge. You might from outside on the water side, but who cares about that? Everything was nicely done, and not overdone. Everything we wanted to see, on our first, brief visit to the city, was within walking distance. Despite being at the heart of the waterfront, we had two good nights' sleep, completely undisturbed even by the startlingly silent arrival of a medium sized cruise ship at the next pier each day. [...] said we'd have a waterfront room and I'm pleased to report that this was not an exaggeration. We could, indeed, have dived out of the window while taking pictures of the view.

Columbia Center doesn't really sell itself as a tourist attraction. It's a working building. But $5 for the view from the 73rd floor is well worth it.
