Courtyard hotel with two restaurants near Colonial Williamsburg
The Williamsburg Hospitality House is across the street from the College of William and Mary. The colonial-inspired hotel attracts families visiting the school. Classic brick architecture blends in with Colonial Williamsburg. The rooms look textbook American, thanks to striped wallpaper, drapes with valances and rich wood furniture. Two intimate restaurants, including a garden bistro, add to the charm.

Highlights
  • Intimate hotel across from the College of William and Mary and two blocks from Colonial Williamsburg
  • Two restaurants
  • Free underground parking
  • Outdoor pool and fitness center
  • Meeting space for up to 400

Rooms
The 295 rooms echo Colonial Williamsburg style with periwinkle-toned floral bedding, striped wallpaper and elegant wood furniture. Windows look out to a brick courtyard landscaped with flowering trees, tables and a shaded garden. Standard amenities include color TV, air conditioning, Wi-Fi and high-speed Internet access for a fee.

Dining

There are two on-site restaurants at Williamsburg Hospitality House, 415 Grill and Papillon. Both of the restaurants achieve intimacy in an upscale casual setting. Diners enjoy the club ambiance at 415 Grill. The restaurant serves American classics such as crab cakes with the signature corn tartar sauce. Papillon is a brick-covered beauty illuminated by Parisian-like globe street lamps. The restaurant dishes up a seasonal breakfast buffet and bistro favorites in the garden.

Pay a little more, and get what you pay

The red brick style of the hotel makes you feel like you are part of the colonial experience, but the trendy 415 Grill and Pappillion restaurants, comfy beds and adept staff make you thankful for creature comforts of the 21st century.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Get off the beaten path and avoid the mobs of tourist on Monticello Road. Chez Trin is a terrific Vietnamese restaurant on your immediate left (in the shopping plaza) and Nawab offers a great Indian buffet directly across the street. The Cheese Shop in Colonial Williamsburg is also a great sandwich shop - just make sure to ask for the house sauce on whatever sandwich you order!

Right next door to the hotel we enjoy the Green Leafe Restaurant - sort of a local bar type place. Also, be sure to see as many of the evening programs as you can when you visit Colonial Williamsburg. They are well worth the money.

beautiful setting

very lovely facility, but lacked any info in the room about the facility- Most hotels have a brochure that shows the amenities and a map of the facility and info on parking etc. This room didn't even have a guide to show the tv stations. also had to pay for internet access.

Old but Convenient

My husband and I went to visit our son at the College of William & Mary. I always stay here because of its convenient location. I like the parking garages and manuevering around the hotel is easy. Good fitness room. NOISY heating system. Vibrations at night disturbed our sleep at night. Had to turn off even though cold outside. Staff is pleasant and accommodating. Business center is a joke--inconvenient location and one had to stand up to use the computers in a dimly lit location. The worst business center I've seen.

Convenient, Caring, and Comfortable

Just home from a 5 night stay at the hotel and missing Williamsburg's beauty and charm. For the first 2 days, I attended a professional conference in the hotel. Then my fiance joined me and we went siteseeing in the historic area. The hotel was the perfect location for the conference, walking around a beautiful William and Mary campus, and exploring the historical sights. Everything we needed was in walking distance. Good deli's and food store within a block. The hotel staff was friendly and very helpful. The room was comfortable and clean with good temperature control. I'd go back in a heartbeat!

conference conundrum

No breakfast offered, expensive restaurants, expensive room for a double bed. On the plus side, great location and cool courtyard. Meeting rooms for conference sessions were extremely difficult to find and overall layout very confusing. Meeting rooms were freezing cold and hotel blocked internet for conference sessions even though I called two months before and verified that it would be available for workshop.

Great Accommodations; Expensive Internet

The Hospitality House is within walking distance of the College of William and Mary, Merchants Square, and Colonial Williamsburg. The hotel was clean, the staff was friendly, and the accommodations comfortable. The only complaint was having to pay $10 for 24 hours of internet. Less expensive hotels provide it as part of the accommodations.

Quiet and comfortable

Front desk very attentive and helpful. The rooms were clean and very quiet. Had a terrific nights sleep even though the beds were not the most plush. We have been to this hotel on other occasions and it is always a good experience.
