Royal Clipper Inn and Suites

Staff was great, rooms arent anything special but we slept well. It served our needs, id stay there again. no dining n site, close to some places to eat though....i recommend North end pizza. Ask the staff they'll point you the right direction

Check-in time is listed as 2 pm online, however the motel has changed it to 3 pm. But they do allow you to get a parking pass before check-in, and you can also keep your car in their lot until around 1 pm the day of checking out.

24 Hour Juice and Coffee, no breakfast. Great location on the boardwalk! Very very very small bathroom. The hotel was adequate and a good price. It was a place to sleep.

Great hotel for the price, right across the street for the beach, friendly staff and pleasantly clean rooms. This hotel was a great little find, the only thing it gets a little noisy at night because of the jets..I had a great stay and will be back next year..

Overall, we were pleased with the hotel, especially considering what we paid for our stay. We arrived at about 10am, and although our room wasn't ready, we were given a parking pass and were able to park on the premises. We were able to check in our room around 12:45, a good 3 hours early! The staff, especially [...], was very, very friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean (sheets, bathroom, carpets, etc.) and the microwave, fridge and ac all worked. Although there is no continental breakfast, which is advertised, there is a 24 hour cold juice dispenser in the lobby. The only downside to our stay was that the pool was very dirty (although I must admit, I didn't approach management about it). I knew the pool was small due to other reviews. When we went swimming, there were clumps of hair floating around (yuck!) and the bottom was dirty and gritty (maybe just sand from the beach?). It's a salt water pool, which I love, but there was also a floating bandaid and some candy wrapper trash. Was this management's fault or immature guests trashing up the pool, I can't say. Overall, we were content for what we paid for. I'd stay there again if I was on a tight budget.

Aquarium, Busch Gardens, walked the boardwalk to listen to bands.

Did not like it. Small rooms, small shower, AC didn't work and fridge was froze over. Wasn't dirty but also wasn't very clean to say the least. Good location and staff was friendly but not satisfied.

Well, we arrive to a ok clean room with a bathroom the size of a match box. We were informed that because we had the standard room there was no coffee maker in the room. We paid over $91.00 a night to sleep there. We could however walk to the office and get free coffee and juice. LOL. The elevator was a death trap waiting to happen. We got ice once when we first arrived and once before we left. Don't believe the pictures of the pool. It was discusing and small. The hotel is however located just a walk across the street if that is all you are interested in. I can't believe AAA gives this hotel a two star rating. I think the hotel bought that. We where also told that we could not get a remote because guest like to steal them. Well, go buy some for your other paying guest!!!!!!!!!

This is a good hotel for the Beach but do not expect to be pampered and the amenities are near nothing. It was fairly clean, good towels and the beds had clean sheets and slept pretty good. Parking was very tight. The bathroom is very small so if you are a tall or fat person you'll have trouble wiping your ass! Overall it isn't a really great place but show me a hotel under $150 per night at Virginia Beach and I'll show you a hotel that doesn't have much decor, no personal services, the ice machine doesn't work etc. If you just need a place to sleep and don't care if the curtains match the bedspreads or the carpet, the Royal Clipper Inn is an OK place at the beach. Would I stay there again? YES!... because it's cheap and only a half block from the beach. Oh yeah...and they respect your privacy when you put out your "DO NOT DISTURB" sign!

Given the price (less than $100 a night), this hotel is not a horrible option for the shore-goer that wants a basic room to crash in with less than a 5 minute walk to the beach. I should have realized what I was dealing with when I phoned the hotel - and was put on hold for 15 minutes twice- before I booked this reservation.
