noisy

We could hear every word spoken by people in the hallway and from the rooms beside us. Everything else about the hotel was ok, but just ok.

Great value in a luxury hotel

Doubly wonderful for chocolate chip cookie lovers. The Doubletree serves warm cookies at check-in, and you can buy a half-dozen warm cookies with or without macadamia nuts at the hotel restaurant--Max & Erma's. I've never seen faster maintenance at a hotel. All staff members were courteous and helpful. The fitness room was not huge but was well equipped for its size.

"The Griswalds" take Virginia Beach

The trip did not start off well as [...] rep promised adjoining rooms (which was essential to our selection of this hotel). Upon check-in, we were informed that this was not possible and that all adjoining rooms were booked. We had to make a concession and get 2 rooms that were next to each other and thus shadow every time our 2 kids went from room to room (to make sure they were safe in the dimly lit hallway). Once in our room, we noticed soiled undergarments in the bathroom. Called the front desk and was told "Ewwww" and which point, I was on hold for 5 minutes and no one returned to the call. My husband had to go to the lobby himself to fix the situation. At the same time, I called the [...] rep and received little sympathy or satisfaction about my concerns about the adjoinining rooms/dirty room. For the price of the room, an in-room refrigerator safe would have been nice. I've had this at other hotels for far less. However, the food and other accommodations were okay.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

Do research and talk to people who have gone to the locations. One of the attractions was poorly managed "Motor Thrill" next to OceanBreeze WaterPark. There was literally 1 or 2 staff members operating all of the rides.

Definitely will stay again

I had a great time. My daughter and I visited for a weekend at the beach. The staff was very professional and pleasant. Of course, the cookies are fabulous. I will definitely stay at this hotel again when I visit Virginia Beach. They offer a shuttle to and from the beach every day, which means I was able to save my gas. Thank you for a great experience Double Tree. My only disappointment was from the Housekeeping dept. When I returned to the hotel one evening, I did not receive any new towels for the next day, not even wash towels. However, after discussing this with the hotel staff, they informed me that this was a mistake on Housekeeping, and it is not the Hotel policy.

The hotel will provide a shuttle to and from the beach, so there is no need to drive and have to manage the traffic, or pay for parking. The times are 8 am - 10 pm daily.

Good Hotel, Far From Beach

The hotel room was good. The location was bad, considering every other hotel was either right on the beach or across the street from the beach. This hotel was next to the conference center, so if you have an event there then this is the hotel for you. If you are vacationing, then spend the extra $50-100/night and get a room that has a patio overlooking the ocean. It's worth it if you can afford it.

Pleasant stay!

I was there for a doctoral admissions interview and the staff was great at setting up services to help me get organized. The room was luxurious! A bar fridge would be nice.

I would recommend traveling by Greyhound as the bus stop is across the street from the hotel, and saves cab fare to from Norfolk International Airport to the hotel.

Our recent stay

We were in town for a boat show at the convention center next door and the location was perfect. Close and convenient! The hot cookies at check in were delicious. Thanks to your staff for a pleasant stay and for the cleanliness of your hotel.

Unbelievable service for the price

I came to the Virginia Beach Convention Center for 5 days for a convention that took place next door. Everyone was extremely hospitable. My 10th floor maidservant was named [...]. She was wonderful and always accommodating. Thank her please. The only complaint is I could have used a small refrigerator and microwave oven. And oh those chocolate chip cookies upon arrival and departure! Keep up the good work Doubletree.

Free cookie at check-in

I only stayed one night, but the staff were friendly and the room was clean. The hallways were a bit too warm for my taste, but the air conditioner in the room worked fine.
