BEST WESTERN PLUS Oceanfront Virginia Beach

We will never again stay at the Best Western Oceanfront Virginia Beach. The room we were assigned was across a busy street in a run-down older hotel that Best Western rennovated. We couldn't find our room and none of the staff spoke enough english to help us find our room. The room numbers did not go in order and the room numbers were not consistent by floor. The worst part of our stay was that the people in rooms near ours partied into the early morning hours outisde on the walkway leading to the rooms. These guests were screaming, drinking, smoking, etc. We could not sleep. My husband and I were afraid. Our children were afraid. We were even afraid to call the front desk or police because of what these people might do to us. These were very scary people. Where was the security guard? Was there a security guard? People were throwing each other into the pool long after midnight and the hotel staff did nothing about it.

Housekeeper never cleaned bathroom nor changed the bed, put up towels with hair wrapped around them...it was a TERRIBLE experience DO NOT WASTE time or money, the electricity was off and on and had extension cords in room to hold up a lamp

Didn't stay there - needed to cancel due to change in plans. Hotel wouldn't honor my cancelation more than 24 hours in advance. Gave a sorry story about a big event - if it was so big then they should have canceled so they could resell room to another buyer.

This is a tourist hotel plain and simple. Great location, looking out over the beach (as long as you specify oceanfront as the hotel has two buildings, one waterfront, the other ACROSS THE STREET! We watched numerous folks get sent across the street, very unhappy) Parking is horiffic, and the staff doesn't care. Their primary concern is any bus tour that they have. Individual travelers are at the bottom of their list. The overall attitude of the staff to include the Day Manager is they just don't care and stop bothering me with your questions. The air conditioning leaks and half the room floor was damp/wet from it, the fan didn't work in the bathroom. The bathrooms are very small but functional. The rooms were cleaned well each day. Our visit started on Wednesday and by Friday and Saturday nights the hallways were filled with running, shouting teenagers. I would not stay at this location again due to the poor room condition and terrible attitude of the front desk staff.

The non-ocean front rooms are in a different building away from the main hotel. The hotel website didn't mention that at all. The rooms were worse than a cheap motel. We paid $80/night for the room, which wasn't even worth $40 / night. The hotel staff were rude and not helpful. We wished we had never stayed here or had paid not more than $40/night

The stay was okay. TV didn't work that well, no microwave. Room was small but for the price OK we just needed a place to put our head at night. It seemed clean enough. we were staying 5 nights and after the 4th discovered that we weren't the only ones in our bed. BED BUGS!!!!!! I had seen on TV that hotels had problems but didn't think it would happen to me. Wrong! Now I am having to worry that I brought them home!!!! And now all my bite marks are showing. I have done some research and I don't know if I can be sure I didn't bring them home!! I should NOT have to worry about this. If paying for a nicer hotel would have prevented this...IT WOULD HAVE BEEN WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was a horrible experience. This hotel's separate building with a NON-OCEAN VIEW is an OLD MOTEL that Best Western must have purchased and use as part of their hotel. The motel (rooms in a separate building) were across the street for the real hotel attached to a parking garage. They were dirty, scary, and stunk like mildew. And there were buses below th room reving their enginines at 4:00am. It was horrible and I would never stay at this hotel again.

THE FRONT DESK STAFF WAS AS HELPFUL AS POSSIBLE, BUT I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THE ROOMS IN THE BUILDING ACROSS THE STREET... I AM SURE THE BEACHFRONT BUILDING ROOMS ARE GREAT BUT ACROSS THE STREET BY THE POOL THE BUILDING AND ROOMS ARE VERY DATED AND INFESTED WITH BUGS, THE MINI FRIDGE DID NOT KEEP THINGS COLD, COOL AT BEST. WOULD ONLY STAY THERE AGAIN IF I WAS IN THE MAIN BEACHFRONT BUILDING. OVER DISATISFIED WITH MY EXPERIENCE.

I WILL NOT USE ORBITZ AGAIN. I WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER OFF LOOKING FOR HOTEL MYSELF. I THOUGHT I WAS IN MAIN HOTEL WAS UNAWARE OF SMALL HOTEL ACROSS STREET, THAT IS WHERE WE WERE OUR ROOM WAS ON THRID FLOOR CORNER, ROOM WAS SMALL FOR FOUR ADULTS. WHEN I COMPLAINED TO MANAGEMENT I WAS TOLD IT WAS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. ALSO VERY NOISY WITH TOUR BUSSES PARKED OUTSIDE OUR WINDOW .

Very poor experience. The room I booked and the description I received while booking was it was non-ocean view. It turned out to be across the road in the parking lot. I paid $100 for the room while similar hotel rooms across the road were selling for half that price. I feel I was tricked by Orbitz and Best Western. I ended up paying $45 per night more to stay on the bigger and cleaner building. Never will do it again.
