Great Location

It was a great location, right in the heart of downtown Salt Lake. I would not recommend staying there on New Years Eve! Very noisy and loud all hours of the night. The walls are thin and you can hear your neighbors. I was not very impressed for the price of the hotel. Room service is great and the food was amazing. They also don't tell you it is 12 dollars a day for parking.

WiFi not included??

I booked the room for my husband birthday. We splurged and stayed right there by City Creek Mall. We went out to eat at a restaurant and walked around the Mall. The location was superb. The room was great. I wan't going to pay extra for the WiFi just for the night. But when I had to be connected to take care of some business and my iPhone wasn't working as I hoped, I ended up paying to get the WiFi. For the price of the room, I was a little surprised that WiFi wasn't included.

Excellent!

Smooth operation from check-in to check-out. All staff were polite, friendly and helpful. I didn't try breakfast but in-room looked like a good option. There is a Starbucks attached to the lobby. The room and bed were comfortable. Nice big windows overlooking the city were provided with 2 sets of curtains - one for privacy and the others for light blocking. Desk top and chair plus a lounge chair- both had good lighting for reading. Bathroom was small but had a tub. Only one hand and one bath towel provided per person. Unfortunately no robe. Pool has a retracting roof - as part of the City Creek Center design. There was also a hot tub and in the changing areas saunas and lockers. Plenty of shopping, bars and restaurants nearby. Naked Fish sushi bar just opposite is good!

Disappointed

The hotel is old, dark, and run-down for a Marriott. The service was decent, not what I expect from Marriott.

Excellent Hotel Excellent City

I was there for a conference that took place in the hotel. Check in and check out were very fast and easy. The entire hotel staff were very friendly, helpful and polite. The rooms were clean and had great views. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept in. The conference rooms were very clean and the food served was overall pretty good. Salt Lake City is the most polite and clean city I have ever been to. Also it is a beautiful city. Every where you look the view is like a painting. I would have never come if it wasn't for business but I am glad I did and would like to come back soon and stay at this hotel.

Good for the most part

The room was great. The entire place was clean and welcoming. The staff were all accommodating and I loved the big fire place in the lobby. One issue, however, was that you couldn't get a single normal t.v. station (besides FitTV and the news) without paying for it. There were better t.v. channel options on the ellipticals at the gym, which I enjoyed while I was there. I also found the menu choices at Elevations to be predictable and uninspiring. The food was fine but I expected more from such a large hotel. I had an easy time getting to and from the hotel using an Express shuttle but, again, I thought because of its size and numerous other amenities that it would have its own shuttle service. I recommend getting one! Overall, it was a good experience. I'm not raving, but I'm also not ranting.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

If you're going to be there awhile, you're going to want to venture outside the hotel for meals. There are multiple places a short walk away. Check out the Blue Lemon for lunch and/or dinner. I don't recommend breakfast.

Great customer service

I was in Salt Lake for business and the customer service at the Marriott was excellent from start to finish. Great room service, front desk and house keeping...it was all there. My one gripe (and this is a big one especially if your in for business)would be the so called high speed internet service. I paid 12.95 for a slower than wifi connection when connected via ethernet. The paid wifi was equally as slow. Strangely enough the free wifi in the lobby provided faster internet than the paid service.
