Average Hotel

This hotel wasn't bad but it wasn't excellent either. The rooms themselves have been upgraded but the hallways, doors, carpeting, etc. are outdated. The restaurant in the hotel wasn't worth going to. Staff was friendly but slow service and food not good. The location of the hotel is just so-so. It was quite a walk to get to the areas of the Riverwalk where activities were going on. All in all not bad but we will stay in a different hotel next time we go.

Very Disappointed

This hotel had no consistency in their customer service as each day I brought a different issue to the front desk that needed to be addressed. They were as follows: Note pad with no pen, water not hot, bathroom door did not lock, black residue on shower curtain, blood stain on one bed sheets, black spots on other bed sheets, facial soap box on sink with no soap in it, no cookies at 3p as promised, no coffee or sweet and low for coffee maker, coffee stain on wall, no makeup wipes nor at front desk, no "forgotten" amenities at front desk as advertised, one washcloth for two people, no TV movie guide as desk didnot know movie channels when asked, no mints, room not cleaned one day, advertises business center but computer/printer not working, frigerator too cold; froze leftovers, and the carpet in room was so dirty, my socks were black. These issues were made aware daily to the front desk with little or no concern. They didn't seem to care about our well being especially when they refused to change the blood/dirt stained sheets until the next day.

Riverwalk Plaza

Stayed here 6 nights. Older building. Pool small and cold, no hot tub. Beds hard but seemed new. Coffee shop hardly ever open. Hotel is off main part of Riverwalk so a bit of a walk to any other restaurants & night spots. There was rarely more then a couple people in bar in evenings. Restaurant menu very limited, breakfasts extra cost, we only had breakfast one am in hotel. Staff pleasant, helpful and courteous. Overall good value for being in Riverwalk area; convenient self parking ramp in bldg w/elevator right from parking area (twelve dollars/per day parking). We were in SA for son's Air Force Grad, about 15 min drive to Lackland from Hotel, easy in and out from hotel to base. Traffic in SA area flows quite nice due to wide hi-ways. Overall, an OK hotel.

Riverwalk Plaza

Smack-dab in the middle of down-town San Antonio, with direct access to the Riverwalk. As you're at one end of it, there s a little bit of a walk to get to the restaurants that line the Riverwalk. But that's why it's called the "Riverwalk", right? The hotel is older, with rooms that reflect the work that's been put into the place. While I've stayed in larger places, the room was quiet, the AC cooled relatively quickly and didn't freeze up or make a ton of noise. It would have been nice if the TV would pivot (it was mounted on the wall). Would I stay here again? maybe. I might look further down the Riverwalk, should I find the need to stay on it again. But it's a nice place, and I recommend for a few days stary (like I did).

Time-saving tip: In Hotel

There is a young lady who works at the front desk who was the most helpful person - EVER - with answering questions and suggestions for " touristy" stuff.

Not confortable

The staff was rude. It took them half hour to check me in, and I was the only one there. The towels are thin and old, and came with a bunch of hair in it!!!! Gross! The bath tub was clogged... Nasty. The mattress is older than my grama, and no conforters... If that makes you happy, pick this one.

Great hotel

I was in San Antonio 24 hours for my son's graduation so I only got to enjoy the hotel for one night. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The location was great and I felt safe walking around the area. I will definitely stay here again if I am in San Antonio.

Horrible Hotel

I thought the hotel I booked through Orbitz was horrible. It is very misleading. I am very disappointed [...] and I was upset. We payed a lot of money just for one night and did not get anything we wanted or thought I was booking. The websites for the hotel I chose was very misleading. [...]

Disappointed in Sam Antonio

We went to the riverwalk its a beautiful area but way to crowded and expensive, Sea world has wonderful shows and plus they give you a break from the heat in Texas. The Riverwalk Plaza Hotel was one of the best hotels I have stayed in, staff very friendly and courteous, the rooms were very comfortable and clean. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

It is impossible to get in a restaurant on the riverwalk, plan on dining outside the riverwalk area. Or you will wait for a table for 1-2 hours.Steer clear of Las Margaritas mexican restaurant.Very rude staff and the food is terrible.
