Not Again

Although the staff were very nice and the location wasn't too bad I will not be staying at this hotel again. I had to have my key reprogram twice and it was very loud outside at night. The pool was completely drain and what they referred to as a playground was one slide on a small piece of grass. I am sorry (because the staff were excellent) that I would not be staying here again.

MASSIVE VALUE FOR MINUMUM MONEY!

I must say I enjoyed my stay much more than I could have ever IMAGINED...The manager, his wife, the staff..EXCELLENCE THAT"S EVIDENT! As an author & motivational speaker, I believe this is the place of places and I know on my FUTURE travels that Red Roof is the Roof I will seek to sleep under. But [...] has set a standard that will absolutley amaze you! Breakfast,Housekeeping, warm & friendly smiles all backed by a spirit that just speaks HOME...Yeah, that's it HOME! I will return and as my book begins to grow in readership. I will remember this wonderful place and always...RETURN HOME Marvin Krazy Crawford Motivational speaker & author of How to find success by losing your mind

Too far from everything

I was unfamiliar with the San Antonio area so I didnt realize the hotel would be located so far from everything. I spent hundreds on taxi fare before I realized there was a shuttle from the hotel to downtown ($5pp each way). The room was really outdated, baseboards were removed and the walls in the bathroom had signs of decay. The sink had cruddy build up around the faucet. The bed was old but comfortable but everytime a guest in the rooms next to mine went in or out my room reverberated from the closing door. The continental breakfast was suppose to be from 6:30am - 9:30am; I arrived one morning at 8:30 and there was only cereal available, another morning I arrived at 6:30 and there was still cereal along with bread for toast, no fruit or doughnuts etc. The staff was friendly.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

If you didnt rent a car, make sure to take advantage of the hotel shuttle. You have to reserve it a couple of hours in advance for service but its worth it because a taxi trip from this hotel to the downtown riverwalk is around $30 each way.

not bad, not good

good-most cable channels (but showtime reception was unwatchable), easy I-10 on/off, friendly staff, next to wendy's and gas station/c-store. bad-no yellow pages or business white pages, tv remote didn't work, modest highway noise, pool was closed (daytime highs in low 70's). didn't try the free breakfast. in sum-nothing that bad, but i'd try someplace different next time. i saw 6 value-priced hotels within a mile or two.

Bad Stay

The website of Red Roof Inn stated that all of the rooms at this location had a mini fridge which was false..I brought it to the attention of the manager and he moved me to another room and that room still did not have a fridge so he again moved me for the 3rd time and finally was able to get a room with a fridge..The A/C in all of the rooms that I was in looked beat up..The plastic cover that covers the AC unit itself in all of the rooms looked like someone had got angry and kicked the AC units and cracked the cover that covers the unit..It looked horrible..I was alitte scared that I would be balmed for that..The rooms were not as clean as they could have been..I saw rust and what I believe to be mold growing around the soap dish of the shower..The hotel was not as close to downtown and the riverwalk as I thought which is what I wanted..When I first got to the hotel the clerk at the desk could not find my reservation..I had to call Orbitz customer service(which was also a bad experience) to get there help in locating my reservation. They had somehow reserved my room under someone elses name which I believe is probably not the fault of the hotel..My reservation number that Orbitz gave me did not even register to my name but instead someone elses..The 1 positive thing that I do have to say is that the staff was very friendly and helpful and tried their best in resolving my issues..I would not recommend this hotel to anyone unless the issues that I stated were corrected
