Historic Texas landmark with rooftop pool on San Antonio's River Walk
Equal effort was made maintaining the historical character of this 1920s-era 24-story skyscraper, formerly the Alamo Bank, and upgrading the amenities to include key luxuries, in keeping with the River Walk-adjacent glamour. Being just four blocks from San Antonio's Market Square and The Alamo makes tapping into the old-school charm easy -- as easy as it is to shop one's heart out at the boutiques on the glamorous River Walk or at the nearby River Center Mall.Highlights
- Right on the River Walk and in the heart of the theater district, across the street from the Aztec Theater
- Rooftop pool with two hot tubs
- Free hot Quikstart Breakfast and Kickback early-evening snacks, with hot food and cold beverages
Rooms
Many of the Drury Plaza Hotel's 380 rooms offer a place to watch the water lazily winding along the glitzy River Walk. If that ever loses its charm, every room has its own flat panel LCD TV, with HBO and a wide array of cable channels. Furnishings are traditional, with dark wood, subtle floral prints, and ample storage. Hair dryers, irons and ironing boards also come standard.
Features
The homey steakhouse chain, Texas Land and Cattle, is located on the property, and many more restaurants are just steps away. Theaters, including the Majestic, Empire, and Aztec are very close by. The palatial lobby features 50-foot ceilings, travertine flooring and stained glass windows.

Great Hotel, Slow Elevators
The hotel was beautiful with river access but no rooms that had a good view of the river. The rooms are very comfortable with an awesome tv. My only complaint is the elevators took a long time to go up and down. So slow that a line would form at busier times of the day.

Great Location for relaxation
The experience of this hotel was above average to excellent from the time I drove on to the property. Check in was easy and the staff helpful and friendly in getting us to our room. The room was fresh and clean with everything available to us as guest. The amenities were great and the cleaning service worked with us with our schedule and was very efficient. My wife and I enjoyed very much the twenty second and twenty third floors. The look-out and relaxing area was very nice, comfortable, and restful. The pool, hot-tubs, sitting area was clean and very comfortable. Over-all the location and the hotel staff and anemities would be inviting to me if I return to San Antonio. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Great value for the money.

Short walk from hotel
The river walk was right out the back of the hotel and the walk was relaxing, very safe, and educational. There is dining, entertainment, and shopping all along the river walk, a short distance and comfortable from the hotel. The Alamo is within walking distance and a must see for all visitors to San Antonio

Very friendly, helpful employees from the driveway to the buffet
The Drury Plaza in San Antonio was extremely comfortable. The hotel lobby is absolutely gorgeous and very chic. The room was more than we could ask for and was very beautifully decorated. The layout of the room was fantastic - not feeling like a hotel room but a luxury suite! The location on the River Walk was phenomenal and very convenient. We would definitely like to visit this hotel again.

Excellent Overall
This hotel was excellent all around! The lobby was gorgeous! Our room was big, the beds were comfortable and the room was very clean. Our room had a fridge and a microwave too. They had a happy hour every evening with 3 free drinks per person. The staff was beyond helpful. We had issues with a rental car (do NOT rent from Enterprise, they were horrible) and the hotel staff was incredibly helpful. It is about a 5 minute walk to the Alamo and a 5 minute walk along the riverwalk to the heart of the restaurants and bars along the riverwalk. It was about 2 minutes to get to restaurants above ground. Would absolutely stay here again if I go to San Antonio again.

Can't get any better !!!
It was great. You can't beat the price, location and service. The breakfast was great and all you can eat. There was a soda fountian machine that you could get all the soda you wanted until midnight along with popcorn. The evening snack bar was great as well. You are right on the river walk, next to the Aztex Theater. You can reserve a riverboat ride with great guide. We enjoyed it so much we joined the Drury Gold Key club and plan to go back in October when it is cooler. The pool on the roof is awsome, you can relax in the pool and enjoy the incredible view.

Very nicely remodeled rooms
The hotel is very nice from top to bottom. The free cocktails and free hot breakfast was very impressive. The riverwalk was right out the back door. I really liked that the hotel was the alamo bank at one time and the history is still there. Down as you walk to go to the riverwalk they still have the original vault and alot of original pictures of the bank. The rooms are very nice with the flat screen tv and more. Everything you need on the riverwalk is about a 2-5 minute walk, very very close.
