Royal Sonesta Hotel Houston

Had to find a hotel to stay in for one night after released from Hospital after surgery and in between a follow up visit with the doctor. Hotel stay was great, food was really good, we had the room service. Great place to stay.

Amenities: quite excellent; only preference is that the pool area would remain open past 9pm, as I would have preferred a dip in the hot tub to relax after my late evening meetings Location: as a plus, it's within walking distance of several shopping plazas and the Houston Galleria, but because of that, traffic is bothersome Room Cleanliness: excellent; no comment other than exceptional preparation by the housekeeping staff Room Comfort: quite nice, spacious room, open layout Staff: very courteous and helpful; only issue was not receiving the requested Houston Chronicle newspaper at the room in the morning; requested it twice and ended up having to pick up a copy from the concierge desk when checking out Value: comparably priced in relation to the amenities and quality of the establishment

I have stayed in 3-star hotels with better amenities. CRT TVs are not 4-star hotel amenities. Pros: courteous and helpful staff, close to galleria mall, decent fitness center Cons: No free Internet ($10 a day), No free parking ($16 a day for garage and $27 a day for valet), beds are so uncomfortable (polyester sheets/pillows and hard mattress), low room ceilings, CRT TV not LCD, outdated bathroom, Outdoor pool is untidy (bugs floating)

It was a quick in and out, but the hotel was exactly what I needed; great staff, very clean and quiet room, FANTASTIC gym and very close to where I needed to be. I will absolutely stay there again in the future.

My Louis Vuitton over-sized handbag which contained my personal items, money and clothing had been removed from the room before check-out time. The feeling that I felt when I realized that my personal belongings were missing was quite overwhelming. I immediately went to the front desk and brought this issue to the hotel staff’s attention. I inquired about the whereabouts of my handbag and why were my items removed from the room before check-out time. The front desk attendant confirmed that check-out time was not until 12 pm. However, to my despair, the staff could not provide me a sufficient explanation of what happened to my belongings. As time advanced, the staff became more and more dismissive, rude, and very unapologetic. Despite their unacceptable behavior, I persistently inquired about my belongings. Eventually, the staff located my handbag. However, the overall experience was very disheartening. What really grieved me was how management took every measure to avoid responsibility. This team was so rude with no sense of customer service. I was treated very poorly. They failed to remember that I was the one victimized, yet they unfortunately treated me as if I had committed a criminal act.

Great place to stay but the need to work on a better way to get from the hotel to your car in the parking garage without having to ride an elevator all the way down to the first floor just to ride another elevator back up to the level where your car is. Also need to inform guests on how to get to the swimming pool/hot tub area without the guest having to ask at the front desk.

Great gym and very friendly staff. Rooms need updating. Otherwise nice place and location.

it is a good, luxury hotel but the staff is not very well trained. On check in they wanted to give me an inferior room and I had to talk to the manager. On check out they tried to charge me the full amount, disregarding the fact that it was prepaid. A lot of problems to rent a small conference room. Apart from this, a good hotel.

Decent accommodations. Great gym. Friendly staff. Rooms could use upgrade. Close to all the restaurants and shopping.
