super friendly staff

I think no fewer than 8 people on staff went out of their way to welcome me or talk to me in the short (under 24 hours) period I was there. Very nice!

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Go see the James Turrell Skyspace on the Rice campus at sunset. You need to get tickets ahead of time, but it's worth it.

Great hotel for a Great Conference

I recently stayed at the hotel while attending a conference. There were lots of positives, comfortable beds, large fitness center and pool/whirlpool, minifridge in the room, and the TVs were large. A couple of concerns: - the bath water can get really hot, really quickly so if you have small children beware. The pillows were flat, and the starbucks inside the hotel has very limited hours. The restaurants around the hotel all close by 10pm. Overall, I thought it was a pretty nice hotel, and I would definitely stay there again.

My view

The over all experance was very good. Only orbiz gave me a smoking room and the hotel does not have smoking rooms. The resturant was not open due to low room rental. We were able to have the resturant menu in the bar. Over all I would go back only expecting these issues.

Dining tip: In Hotel

The nice dinning room is only open when hotel is highly booked. The hotel is often not fully booked on the week-end due to it being so near the medical center.

Great stay

This Marriott was a great location near the hospitals, but there was plenty to be desired as far as places to eat nearby. Luckily, the hotel had a great shuttle service to local places like Rice Village with plenty of eating and shopping.

Cliff's Grill nearby was one of the few places close to the hotel, but it had some great sandwiches! I would walk there from farther away if I was staying in the area again.

College visit trip for family

Everything was very enjoyable, aside from the room service experience on the morning of check-out. I phoned at 7:20 am to order 2 orders of pancakes (one special order of nutella), one hashbrown, and one eggwhite frittata, oj and milk. At about 7:30 the lady that took my order phoned back about which side did we want with the pancake order. I called at 7:55 and asked about the status of the order, as we needed to leave as close to 8 as possible, and she put me on hold, came back and said they are on their way up. At 8:15 I phoned back and the same lady said the guy was on the elevator. at 8:25 I was leaving the room with my luggage and almost on the elevator when the gentleman carrying my order passed me. I told him my kids were waiting on the order but that we were very late and I was going to pull the car around. All this and the tab was $70 for the breakfast. Unreal, to say the very least. While waiting on the food to arrive, I checked the menu and the room for any clause stating to allow for certain amount of time for delivery and found none. Just FYI. Thanks.
