Nothing Spectacular, but Just Right
I was in Houston for a week of job training, so basically looking for good value and convenient location. I got both, although right now the road construction is like nothing I've ever seen before, nonetheless getting around is easily managed. I wouldn't stay here if seeing the sights of Houston was my goal, this is a business-only kind of hotel, and that seems to be the focus. The front desk personnel were friendly and welcoming. I asked if the room had a microwave and fridge, and was surprised to be told it didn't, but in the same breath, the gentleman manning the desk said he would see if there were any available. Within 15 minutes back at the room, I had a nice clean microwave and four foot high fridge delivered to my room by another friendly guy. The air conditioning was always running, which was necessary. The bed was on the hard side but comfortable (I probably like a firmer mattress than most). I slept very well. I also enjoyed the bistro, and discovered that their oatmeal to go made a great breakfast I could get quickly and bring with me to my work site. The oatmeal came in a bag with containers of cranberries and raisins, walnuts, milk and brown sugar. Yum. I miss it already! Another delicious quick item for dinner is the French Dip sandwich with au jus sauce. It was convenient to charge everything to the room. Jeannie stood out as a special employee. On my first day at the hotel, I noticed an injured young bird looking near death in the parking lot under a big tree. I asked if anyone was good with animals, and Jeannie came to the rescue of the bird...she even left it water, created a little "nest" for it, and replaced the bird in the tree! How's that for unique and caring service! She even showed hospitality to the resident wildlife! The pool looked clean and inviting, and barely used, but I was too beat up every day from the job training to do anything more than relax in my room. And I did relax with nothing to worry about thanks to the Brookhollow Marriott in Houston!!

It may be a few miles away, but the Cedar Creek Bar is a really fun place for outdoor drinking and I think steak night is Tuesdays. Christie's is Houston's oldest restaurant, on Westheimer, and they had the best oysters I ever tasted!

wanted to leave fast
First off I have stayed at courtyards before and they have been great. This one.....it was like a road side motel, when checking in the halls smelled like, smoke so did the room, had to switch. The pool was not heated. Construction was a mess to get in and out. What was really creepy is coffee maker in the bath room...the...bath...room.where the toilet is located. The high light might be the breakfast, the ladies at the counter were helpful.

Nice hotel, but bring your own breakfast
This is my second time staying at this hotel. During my last visit, about a year ago, the lobby was undergoing renovations. Now it is finished. Overall I was pleased, and here is a rundown. PROS: 1. Well, the new lobby/lounge area is quite nice. 2. Amenities such as pool, exercise room, etc were well maintained. 3. The room was comfortable and staff was polite. 4. They offer free wireless internet. CONS: 1. With the new lobby/lounge area, there is no free continental breakfast such as most hotels in this chain provide. Instead, there is Starbucks coffee and food may be paid for in cash or charged to the room. 2. The pool, though nice, is small. it is located in a central courtyard, which makes it secure, but also means that it is visible to half the rooms in the hotel. 3. Like most hotels, they do not offer SECURE internet access. All access to online services, gaming or business networks are over an unsecured wireless network, and therefore potentially open to prying eyes from any other hotel resident. (or even someone parked nearby with a wireless laptop.) I have this complaint about many hotels, and usually take my CLEAR cellular internet hotspot with me, however I was not able to get an adequate signal at this location. Overall, I liked this hotel, but I may try to find a more secure location next time, and I would prefer one with a free continental breakfast for those days I don't feel like going out for breakfast.

Yia Yia Mary's, one of my favorite Greek Cuisine Restaurants is just a 10 minute drive away, down 610 South to San Felipe road. Great food, nice atmosphere. Try the Katifi for dessert, really nice.

Wrestlemania family
one of the best
We would stay here again. The staff was super friendly. The rooms were very clean and smelled great. The room was cool when we got in it. Bed was very comfortable and had nice soft fluffy pillows. Had a restaurant down stairs that served breakfast until 11 a.m. Several restaurants that you can just walk to, or you can order room service, which we did. The staff made the arrangements for the cab service to pick us up and take us to Reliant Stadium and when we go stuck at the stadium after Wrestlemania we called the hotel, because we had the number in our phone. They called and had the cab service come and pick us up again. We have always been pleased with Courtyard by Mariott hotels. We have never stayed in a bad one but this by far was the best and most friendliest. Oh, and parking is free here unlike a lot of the other hotels in the area.
