Cheap, but not up to par

Location...the night before I left, there was a drug deal in the neighbor hood that ended up with the dealer being killed. Before that I was just being careful, but not really scared of the location. Check in was great The clerk was friendly and efficient. The room at first glance was clean and spartan. However, when I turned on the air, it was pretty noisy, especially at night! The bed was in need of replacement. It was not comfortable at all. The linens were pratically thread bare. But it was clean and didn't smell. I would suggest is economy was you priime concern and the neighborhood didn't scare you, this place would do.

Not a good deal....

Stayed in this hotel for weekend visit to Austin for vacation. It was very difficult to change room from smoking to non-smoking despite availability and special request on reservation. Breakfast was minimal.

Good for the price

Smooth check in. Room was warm and smelled kinda stale, but after turning the air conditioner on, it went away. We were in a room near the back, and it was very quiet. We pretty much had our own private entrance and the parking space was right outside the door. Decent continental breakfast, but the highlight was the Texas shaped waffles!!! Nice touch. Smooth checkout!!

Clean enough and Quiet Enough

The hotel was fairly clean and peaceful. There were some construction workers who stayed on the same floor. However, there was no excessive noise. Make sure that you stay away from the comforter. I'm sure it is not washed often. Other than that, it did the job a restful bed and night of sleep.

Nightlife tip: Short drive from hotel

About 10 miles or so from the hotel is the Downtown area. Interstate 35 is directly in front of the hotel. Take the on ramp South to 15th and MLK. You will see the State Capital and other municipal buildings. If you want Nightlife and good eating, then drive around 4th - 6th Streets.

Good hotel for the price

Good location, 10 min tops from 6th street, downtown area. right off the interstate easy to locate! Rooms and hotel was average, but good place to stay if u intend on being out and about all day. Staff was nice. You get what you pay for, its not top of the line but was perfect while I stayed intown over the weekend for my buddies wedding.

Ok, staff tried to make good on errors.

We stayed for Austin City Limits music festival for all 3 days. As soon as we checked in Friday night after the 1st day of music, the room smelled like cat urine. I called and complained to the staff. The manager on duty came up and he even said that his 1st thought was cat urine smell offered me the only other room available which was a suite for more than twice my original cost of the room. The only other alternative solution was to spray the room with a spray that to cover the smell. I really had no option, either do the air spray or go to the suite and pay more than twice my original price. Their excuse was the humidity from the AC caused the carpets to smell. It was a smoking room, however, I know the smell of smoke and I know the smell of urine and it really did smell like urine. They did try to make up for it by allowing 3 more guests to stay for just $5 extra per person per night. They said normally it is $10 per person per night. I basically took it because there were no other rooms in the area, [...]I really just needed a place to crash so as long as I breathed thru my mouth, I was ok. Also, it was on the 4th floor.

Super 8

Great hotel and staff. A car was broken into during my stay and that put a little damper on things.

How it Went

There was a lot of traffic since it was downtown, but there were many places to eat and shop. The staff was so amazing and friendly. It was that time of year, and crickets were everywhere, but the staff was good about keeping it clean.

"It worked for me"

Seemed to be convenient location. Friendly staff at check-in. On the second morning of my 3-night stay, I kept getting asked for a coupon for the free breakfast. I was not given any coupons at check-in. The room smelled stale, probably from a water leak or wet carpet. Bugs (crickets and gnats) in room. Not sure everyone would feel safe here. When I was checking out, a couple of young ladies were quite upset that their car had been broken into (the window smashed out) and there things had been stolen.
