Last Minute Arrangements onn a Sold out weekend

Austin was packed. There was a Marathon in town, a major tournament at UT, and it was the perfect weekend to get away from Houston. My original plans for lodging had fallen through at the last minute and I was scrambling for options. Thankfully, They still had a room at the La Quinta at Highland Mall. I was slightly disappointed in the overall quality as there were stains on the floor and the comforter in the room when I arrived. The comforters were changed by night 2, but stains on the carpet are hard to fix in 1 day. The staff was excellent though. Its a 10 minute drive or taxi ride to 6th street, so the location was acceptable also. Overall, for a last minute find, it was great! The hotel needs some maintenance upkeep work done though. A little fresh paint and ensuring that the baseboards are all painted and in place would go a long way towards making this a better value hotel.

Good Choice

Not the newest of places, but a good choice for the location and price. Beds are comfortable and rooms are alright they have nice flat screen TVs. Recommend for the average one or two day stay.

Nice place except for the breakfast

My room and the facility and grounds were clean and well maintained. The staff was very courteous. The bed and room were comfortable and the location central in Austin. The Wi-Fi was very scetchy and didn't work more often than it did going from a strong to no signal within seconds. If your idea of breakfast is sugar, than this place is heaven. If you want healthy options this is not the place to eat breakfast. It had the smallest selection of options I've ever seen and I stay in hotels about a dozen nights a year.

Texas Land and Cattle across I-35 is an excellent steakhouse. IHOP around the block had fast courteous service and average chain food.

Never Again!

Arrived late and the lady at the desk was great, and that's we're it ends.. Batteries dead on the remote and no noticeable buttons on the TV to change channels. Was going to call the front desk but it was late and room phone didn't work anyway. Requested batteries and phone repair the next morning on my cell phone and left for the day. Returned late after 11pm to more of the same no one had been in the room because there was no maid service. Went and got batteries, and requested a late checkout. Of only a hour so I could sleep in. The maid woke me at 10am and the GM woke me at 11:57am. I lost it and he threw me out. He said his clipboard was maked as a cash payment. That was my last LaQuinta experience ever...

Not Bad At All

Even though there were a bunch of children staying there, it was very quiet. Right off the highway, but was unable to hear any highway noise, and no bleed through from other rooms. I enjoyed my stay. Wish there was a better breakfast, but it was ok. Bagels, cereal, fruit, and frozen waffles sustained me, but I did go to the Mexican restaurant right next door and got the best breakfast tacos. Overall for what you pay, and the location, I thought it was great, and I would stay there again.

Hassle free, fast and easy

We went down to Austin for the ROT bike rally and had a blast. This hotel was centrally located and after spending the entire day on a motorcycle and in the sun the room was cold and comfy.. Thanks for helping us recharge while we were in town LaQunita

Bed was good, slept good. Room was not CLEAN. Had to get towels and wash cloth everyday, no coffee. Desk clerks were nice and helpful when we had to get our towels and wash cloths.
