La Quinta Inn AND Suites Austin Southwes
For the money, not a bad hotel. The location was SW Austin, great for my business meetings. The area was well lit and safe. Breakfast was mostly breads and cereals. TV was old tube-type. Internet was wired, but free. Staff was courteous. My only complaint was being placed on the half-smoking floor. There is no such thing as "half", but that's what it was, half the floor non-smoking, the other half smoking. My next trip, I will stay at my usual Holiday Inn Express, not much more money, not as good a location, but better tv, breakfast and internet.

There was no dining or shopping within walking distance and the maze of highways can be quite confusing as you search for places.

This hotel worked well for me because of its location. The room was larger than I expected - larger than most of the hotels I frequent. The value was good because of the Orbitz deal - it would not have been good at regular price.

Barton Creek Mall is just a short drive away. The same for Central Market which has excellent produce and a wonderful cafe.

Not going back
The LaQuinta in was not located near stores, restaurants, or shops. It was very difficult to find a drug store to buy basic items. There was not a restaurant or a small shop on site. This was very inconvenient. The room was very noisey with the air conditioning unit rumbling all night. There were also rowdy guests who were running and yelling in the halls after midnight and slamming the heavy doors. The spa was not in operation. The room was not comfortable. The internet was not working and internet support staff could not figure it out. Next time I would sleep in my car for a better value.
