Best place to stay in Downtown

I have stayed at a few hotels in Downtown Austin and my only complaint about this one is that you have to pay $20 for parking. Everything else is amazing: The service is great (we got switched out of an accidentally booked handicapped room to a room with a view of downtown very easily), the location is great (1 block from East 6th St.), and they have an 8th floor outdoor pool and bar. You can go out all night on 6th St., stumble back to the hotel, and get up and go for a run down by the lake the next morning without getting in your car once (or a cab)!

    Great Austin experience

Hotel is minutes from lively 6th street, but not so close as to be noisy. Area also felt safe for walking around day into night. Room was clean and pretty large with nice big window. Hotel has several places to eat - couple recipes and great coffee shop with delicious desserts, ice cream, coffee and drinks.

Moonshine restaurant nearby is excellent, but put your name in and plan on a walk afterwards on weekend nights as they are busy - otherwise you may wait an hour or more on your table. We also tried to get into Parkside Grill which looked great, but 2 hour wait without reservation so we didn't try it.

    Noisy Place

This is nice hotel in a great location in downtown Austin. The staff was good but the guests and the street noises even at the 10 floor were annoying. In a 4 star hotel I do not expect sceaming guest running in the halls for several hours. The sirens and horns on the street far below were also surprisingly loud.
