The accomodations were very comfortable. I loved not having to valet my car for an additional 35.00 per day. The location was very convenient to downtown and the campus. I find that in most hotel rooms, the air conditioner is always inadequate - not here! Will stay here again.

Close to University, but......
The hotel is on the opposite side of the freeway from the University, requiring you to walk along a very busy overpass if you do not have a car to get to campus. The road noise is extreme. The hotel windows are not designed to dampen road noise - we could hear the traffic over both the TV and the airconditioning. Apparently the opposite side of the hotel is quieter (it overlooks a cemetery) but the hotel was fully booked and the class of room sold on this website meant that we had no options. A terrible experience for a pre-paid hotel.

Nice but the location is a problem
The hotel itself is fine. The location is awkward. It is on a one way frontage road that goes along the IH 35 expressway. You can only access the hotel on road about 1/2 mile from the south because the highway cuts off other streets.(and it's a one way road).. The main attractions of Austin lie on the OTHER side of the expressway. So you have to go to a nearby overpass to get into the fun area. We heard highway traffic in our room but rooms on the other side of the hotel would probably be fine.

Perfect for sleeping
If you are planning on spending just the nights at the DOUBLETREE hotel, and enjoying the rest of the day in Austin its perfect for you. The rooms are really nice, very comfortable bed, and it has a very relaxing bar downstairs. There is a Dennys right outside the hotel for a good breakfast and its 5 minutes away from central Austin.
