Good for sxsw

I was a good price for sxsw. It was right next to the free way so you had the freeway noise. But other than that it's a overall good hotel

Location is not the best

Walking distance to the University of Texas Austin but not a good place to walk after dark. The people were friendly. The room is old but clean. Had a fridge and microwave but no table or chair.

The room was fine, specially if you are looking for a cheap hotel just to spend the night. Breakfast is good enough.

Basic, fine

Basic hotel, clean rooms, decent staff; close enough to downtown and right near the UT campus/stadiums. There were no bugs or anything like that and there's nothing extraordinary to report. If you have a car, fine; if you need to ride a bus somewhere, it's fine too. Good basic hotel.

"Seen Better Days" Inn

Unfortunately, there were more negatives than positives for this hotel, which was showing its age. Let's start with the positives - the room was spotlessly clean, looked like it had been recently redecorated, and was a reasonable size. The fridge worked and the water was hot. The wireless internet was free and worked well. The staff was friendly. The floors were hard (i.e. not carpet# - not sure whether that is a pro or a con. I guess it depends on personal taste. It just surprised us. On the down side - room doors are to the outside #i.e. no indoor corridors#, which left me feeling less than secure. The area of town is quite run down. The worst, though, was the unimaginable, constant traffic noise of two levels of the I-35 so close that you could hand coffee to the drivers out the window. Fortunately, though, the roar of the air conditioning unit almost blocked that out. There is no closet at all #just a rail on the bedroom wall to hang things on# and, most importantly for us, no room safe. This forced us to carry electronics and passports wherever we went, which was a bit of an inconvenience. Upon filling the bathroom sink, we found that there was no way to raise the plug #the mechanism on the tap was broken), so we had to climb under the vanity to operate the plug from there. We were here for the Grand Prix weekend. This location was a moderate driving distance from the track and about 10 minutes' drive from downtown. Unfortunately, we did not feel safe walking around the immediate area of the hotel. That was not a big loss, though, as there is not much by way of restaurants and/or things to do in this area of town.

Do not stay here during the Grand Prix weekend as prices increase to the absurd for this type of accomodation.

Cheap and Local

This is a nice little hotel right off the main highway in Austin. You can access the downtown and university within five minutes (depending on traffic). Free wifi and HBO and very large rooms.

It's ok.

Good location. Rooms are old. It's a little expensive for the type of rooms, but I guess it's expensive because of its location.

Did the job

We needed a hotel for one night in Austin. Just a place to lay our head and have a hot shower. This place was not fancy but it was clean and had water pressure! Happy with our visit.
