Truly good value.
The hotel is in a good location, near major highways, UT, and downtown. The room was clean enough. The only negative was the staff could use some customer service training. Basic customer service means answering to people who are standing in line at the counter before answering the phone. I was a paying customer standing at the counter waiting to check out and the desk clerk was on a personal phone call, ended the personal call, and then took a customer calling for a room (even though they were sold out) before accepting my room key. All I wanted to do was check out. It would have wasted much less of my time if she had just taken my key, said "Thank you," and then answered the phone.

Short drive from hotel
You're in Austin, an amazing city for interesting food. Skip the gross chain breakfast next door or the underwhelming continental breakfast in the lobby. Look up the Magnolia Cafe and have some gingerbread pancakes with bananas. You won't be disappointed!

nothing to write home about
The location is excellent, close to UT and the downtown area. Even though I am familiar with Austing, the hotel was a hard to find and access to it was not easy. The complementary breakfast was cereal, pastries and waffles - but no fruit.

NYE
We stayed at the America's Best in Down Town Austin for New Years Eve. We had traveled 480 miles to see the band 100 Monkeys. It was also my travel companions birthday so it was a very special event for both of us. The people at the hotel were sweet and helpful, the room was nice and clean. We have used America's best in the past and will continue to do so because we always get an amazing room that is affordable, and clean, and the people are always amazing. This one won extra brownie points for the conveniently located IHOP right next door. It made the search for food non existent.

Needs a Little Work
The hotel was very basic, and clean, however, the door did not totally close unless it was slammed. Even when we slammed and locked it we were able to move it back and forth and see light around it and feel outside air which made us a bit insecure. The location was great, less than 5 minutes from the area we were visiting, and right on the Interstate! The neighborhood was ok, however, IHOP was the only resturant within walking distance. The pool was very small, and more than about 5 people at once made it too crowded. It was a very clean and well kept pool, however! As far as staff: The housekeeping staff walked into our room without knocking (which is when we discovered the door did not catch) or announcing themselves. They were also very loud in the laundry room, which our room shared the wall with that area. Basically, if the hotel would fix the door, and perhaps tone down the staff, it would not be a bad place to stay. I don't recommend it for a LONG stay, but for a night or two, it is fine.
