Not what I expected from this chain

The location is super, the front staff superb: House keeping failed to clean the room until asked at 5PM, and the results were not up to expectation. Debris from the guests before, and the lights lights in the room were malfunctioning. In need of some service.

Nice weekend getaway

This hotel is in the perfect spot to hang out all night on Beale Street, which is what we came to do. It is also right across the street from the FedEx Forum which is great because I have season tickets for the Grizzlies. My only complaint is you had to purchase Wi-Fi,$6.95/day. I think for the price of the rooms Wi-Fi should be complimentary.

Recommended with a few caveats

The Westin is a nicely designed hotel that makes a swanky first impression. But our room wasn't terribly clean, and that felt at odds with their branding. The tops of the lamps were dusty (as if they hadn't been dusted in months), the bathroom floor and shower had some minor dirt and grime, there was a piece of scotch tape on the ceiling over my bed and a mysterious brown smudge on the front of our room's door -- all small details that didn't affect my comfort in any significant way, but just gave me the sense that management could have been better. We also returned to our room after a day out to find that the toilet was clogged (we'd had some quick, uncomplicated bathroom uses just prior to leaving so it was unclear and slightly unsettling to think about how this occurred). I went down to the front desk and the very friendly clerk sent up an "engineer" immediately to fix it. He did, but in the process dirtied the bathroom floor a bit. Still, I was impressed with the staff's responsiveness. The bar had truly great live jazz but somewhat watery cocktails. We didn't sample the food. The Westin is in the center of the tourist action, very convenient to Beale Street and its tame debauchery. The party was still going on when we went to sleep, but we couldn't hear a thing from our room.

Problems, Problems and more problems

Even though the staff was friendly and the location of hotel was close to Beale Street, we had extensive problems. After numerous calls to management, we still did not have A/C in our hotel rooms for over a day and a 1/2 and it was 105 degrees outside. Our room smelled of mold since the air was not circulated and the management decided never even to call us back. The maids also decided not to give us any hand towels when cleaning our room, a mistake that we didn't catch to that night. On the day of departure, I had to demand a manager since the customer service rep would still not listen to my complaints. The situation was awful and I would not recommend going back.

2012 Graduation from UOP

The hotel has a nice appearance, but the room is just average. They also add extra charges to your bill during your stay. They added alcohol tax, service charge, and refreshment charges to my bill when I didn't use any of this. I don't drink alcohol. This was my second stay here, which I should have known from my first stay becasue they added extra charges during that stay as well. But, this is definitely my last stay at this hotel. It's sad that you have to scan through your bill like you are auditing it. They said they credited the extra charges. I'll have to see if the charges are truly off when I review my statement.
