Perfect for a Downtown Memphis Stay
If you want to stay in a hotel walking distance to all that downtown Memphis has to offer, this is the place. Parking is in a garage for a cost of only $15 - unlimited coming and going. The room was nice, but the staff was even nicer. They answered all of my questions and were very accomodating. Definitely a good value - you pay a bit more than some of the other downtown hotels, but this is in a better, busier neighborhood, and you don't have to park on the street or in an open lot.

Short walk from hotel
Rendezvous BBQ is rignt beside the hotel...The Peabody is directly across the street...BB King Club/ eatery and Beale St. is only 3 blocks down. Gus' Fried Chicken and Lorraine Motel is a very short drive or a mile or two walk...All places made this trip one of the best we've had.

Great spot
Fantastic location, walking distance to Beale st. and also the famous Rendezvous BBQ restaurant. Nice amenities, pool, gym. Bad things are its a little outdated, our room was clean but it smelled a little musty, no free continental breakfast, and they charge $12 a day for parking. Wifi is free though so it cancels out. Overall it's worth it for the money, I'd stay there again.

Great Location
Just a short walk from all the action but far enough away so you can get away, sleep at night. The staff are great, everyone is helpful. Don't bother doing the "breakfast deal" bump up though...you don't really get "free breakfast for two" but a $20 voucher that doesn't cover the breakfast buffet for 2. Skip the breakfast and go to the Arcade or across the street.

Long walk from hotel
Gus's for fried chicken. If you go to Rendezvous, skp the ribs (that's what I'm saying) and go for the brisket instead. You can get better ribs elsewhere in Memphis.

Too Close to Beale St.
This hotel is 2 blocks from Beale St. It's great for strolling on Beale, but not if you want to get some sleep. Union St is noisy almost all night. My room overlooked Union St. I don't know if the interior rooms had the same problem. The rooms are small and there is not a fridge or microwave in the rooms. I found several strands of hair in the tub. The staff was extremely friendly and responsive. The trolley is less than 2 blocks away and I was able to visit Tom Lee Park, Civil Rights Museum, Gus Chicken.

Nightlife tip:
Short walk from hotel
I was surprised to find a long line approaching Beale St on Saturday night. Everyone was being searched before being allowed to enter any entrance on Beale St. The wait was 45 - 60 min. A LONG line. Didn't see that line Thursday or Friday night.

Wonderful place to stay!
Walking distance to Beale, beautiful part of Memphis downtown. The staff was all really friendly and professional. The pool was great! My only complaint is the elevators were VERY slow, but there was a sign up saying that they are currenty being upgraded, so I'll excuse that this time around. I would recommend this place to anyone, it was superb.

Quick trip to Memphis
For our short vacation this year my husband and I decided to stay in Memphis, TN. We booked our room at the Holiday Inn-Select due to other reviews we read and the location of the hotel. Our stay at the hotel was pleasant. The staff was very friendly, helpful and courteous. Our room was an average hotel room..nothing to get excited about and obviously older with a "unique" showerhead. The tub and sink were obviously repaired at some point, but they were clean and worked. The air-conditioner in the room kept us comfortable and the view we had of the Peabody across the street was great! Just be aware that there is no "free" continental breakfast, unless you count the cheap nasty powdered sugar doughnuts and institutional coffee as "breakfast". The food in the hotel restaurant was delicious and cost about the same amount as in restaurants in the area. The swimming pool is on the roof on the 4th floor and is nice. We had no hot tub, but the hotel was easily in walking distance of Beale St. and Main St. Behind the hotel was a wonderful restaurant called "Rendevous" where we had good ribs and brisket. All-in-all we got about what we expected and had a lovely experience at this hotel.

Full Disclosure Please!
I was not aware that the Holiday Inn also placed a hold on my funds for the cost of a one night stay. I am sure Holiday Inn will release the funds as promised, but in the mean time I am out almost $280.00 for one night stay. I contacted Holiday Inn. I was told by an account representative there is/was information at the front desk disclosing the policy of holding funds. No Holiday Inn, I do not accept the notion that I am expected to read a discourse statement upon check in; particularly when such policy results in being charged twice the amount expected. Full disclosure should be made during the reservation process.

Old hotel at great location
Stayed for just one night while traveling thru. Great location just two blocks from Beale Street. Hotel staff were helpful. Hotel needs a severe facelift. Rooms were clean but dated. Elevators are slow. Three-story parking garage is not very easy to navigate and spaces not made for large vehicles (SUVs). I'd probably look somewhere else next time.
