Friendly staff, comfortable rooms, good value for downtown
We stayed here for nine nights for an event at the Cook Convention Center, which was a 15-minute walk or trolley ride. Otherwise, the location was excellent, especially with the proximity to Beale Street and Main Street restaurants. The price was also less than our convention rate at the hotels nearest the Center. My room had a large desk, easy chair, flatscreen TV, plenty of drawers, big bathroom and a window that opened. The free wifi, daily newspaper and coffee were nice extras. My only complaint was the outrageous price for parking (21 a night). Several friends who stayed here had problems with reservations and billing, but most of those seemed to be caused by the Hilton reservation system. The Doubletree staff, which was super-friendly and helpful, eventually fixed all the errors.

Good restaurants with reasonable prices (all within a few blocks of the Doubletree) are The Rendezvous (award-winning ribs), the City Market deli and Bangkok Thai. For fine dining, try Flights on Main Street (5-6 blocks).

all that I needed
I go to Memphis regularly for meetings. In the past, I have stayed at the Peabody right next door. This Doubletree is right next door. I stayed two nights here for the same price as one night at the Peabody. In addition, my room was a great king bedroom with free wireless, a reasonable gym and easy walking distance to all the downtown spots in Memphis. I will stay here again for sure.

great location, great staff, but might have mold?
The staff was really friendly and helpful. You can't beat the location: in the heart of downtown, right next to the Peabody, just 3 blocks from Beale street. The only issue was there was no ventilation in the bathroom so it would get really hot, and our sinuses got congested during our stay so we wonder if there was a mold issue.

Nice but VERY noisy.
Hotel was clean, staff was efficient, our room was not ready (2 queens) told to come back in an hour, went to eat and back in 2 hrs and we got a WC room with one queen bed, which was alright but no tub and shower stall was rather grungy and the room smelled mildewy damp, so much so it kept waking me up. The TV remote was very unresponsive, even when we called maintenance to look at it, they said it was fine, okay if you like to stay 2 feet from the screen to change channels or alter sound. Being some kind of wild Friday in Memphis the noise was unbelievable from the street with the revved up cars but worse than that was the noise from the lobby. Street noise was not as bad Saturday night. There were at least 50 or so students sitting and chatting and laughing in the lobby at 11:00 pm, they actually weren't that loud but with the hotel configuration of the rooms all around a big lobby the resultant noise in the rooms was horrendous - many of us were poking our heads out wondering what was going on. The pity was these students weren't even guests of the hotel. Would recommend this hotel if you're a night owl and sleep soundly, otherwise give it a pass. Plus points were clean, courteous staff, conveniently located to Beale street, great cookies!

Short walk from hotel
Watch drivers before crossing streets, pedestrians definitely DO NOT have the right of way in this city.
