Compass Cove Oceanfront Resort

Took my two young adult daughters for a weekend getaway. Wonderful relaxing time! Room had wall of windows with ocean view and a balcony where we could sit, read, relax, and enjoy the breeze. Lots of things to do -- especially for the younger set -- but we were contented to swim in several of the pools, float down the "lazy river", sit and read poolside, and walk on the beach. (In mid-May, the ocean was still too cold for swimming.) DVD "rental" kiosk gave us a nice addition to our plans, as we picked out and watched a recent release at no charge! Suggestion: initiate shuttle service to and from the airport. With that, I could have skipped the rental car.

We had a schooner oceanfront room that was listed online as having 2 queen size beds. They were double sized. The box spring had no dust ruffle or anything covering it and was dirty with reddish brown stains on it... I don't want to know what they were. The shower was horrible- anytime anyone in the building turned their shower on, you would either get hit with ice cold water or scalding water. Rooms were dingy and outdated, the beds are hard and uncomfortable, and you get 2 pillows on a "queen" (really a double) bed and it's extremely thin. The indoor pools were ok but the chlorine was overwhelming. The only real positive was the breakfast buffet. You do have to pay for it, but it was worth it. But even that wasn't good enough to make us return.

The location was great! We had a nice ocean view room in the Pinnacle tower. The elevators were a bit slow and parking was tough to find if you return to the hotel after 10 pm. The welcome staff at the desk were a bit curt and they were not that busy. Kids were playing with firecrackers in the balconies beneath ours so it was a bit noisy at night. Overall it was still a great stay.

Really liked the pool areas. It was like you had a pool for all the different age groups. Would definately come back!

I got a GREAT rate here ($49 in Nov.), but when I arrived, I was told that they would need an ADDITIONAL $50 deposit on a credit card prior to check in, and that it would be released upon check out. At checkout, the manager said it would "take several days or up to a week" to be credited to my card. Still waiting. I've stayed in better hotels in the Myrtle Beach area, but this wasn't bad. They have too many fees to suit me, but the room was clean. I didn't use the kitchen, but it is fully functional with an oven and dishwasher.

great place to go for a quick getaway or longer. convenient airport shuttle to and from hotel. staff very accomodating. food was good, especially the breakfast at Compass Rose. our room was clean, spacious, and the view awesome. beach only steps away. lots to do if you have kids....indoor and outdoor pools, lazy river, waterpipe slides, shuffleboard. pet friendly. would go there again

Great room, excellent value, choice indoor amenities and pools. Great place for kids. Rooms were clean, very nice.

Even though we picked a bad weekend to go to Myrtle Beach, weatherwise., I was definitely pleasantly surprised by the hotel we selected. Sometimes, when you are selecting a resort, sight unseen, and just going by the pictures, you might be deceived, and disappointed. Not in this case. The rooms were an ample size, with a full size refrigerator, microwave, and they even supplied dishware. We had an oceanview, and were literally steps from the beach. It was great. I will definitely stay there again.
