Terrific value for downtown hotel
reasonable hotel in downtown Columbia, outstanding staff (from front desk down to cleaning and maintenance staff). Terrific price for what you get. Has the feel of an upscale, downtown hotel for a suburban motel price.

Adequate for overnight stay
Noise from people running around on 2nd floor walkways not appreciated, but tolerable. Parking area inadequate. Best price for 1 night place to sleep in the immediate area.

Clarion Hotel Downtown
We attended a graduation ceremony at USC so this hotel was very convenient. It was within walking distance to restaurants, shops, campus, etc. The staff were very nice and attentive. The food was EXCELLENT. I highly recommend their restaurant. We stayed in a suite, and the room was decent but the carpet was really dirty. It turned the bottom of our feet black! The beds were really hard, but the shower was huge and had a jacuzzi tub, which kind of made up for it.

It was ok
The room served it's purpose, price was ok, and the staff was very nice. If you are just passing through it is fine - but don't put it on any "luxury" lists.

Clarion Downtown
Although the Hotel was clean, it wasn't at the usual high standards of the Clarion family- however the Hotel staff made our stay extremely comfortable and was very accomodating- they bent over backwards to help us with any and all our needs. They were friendly,polite and helpful. I would stay there again without a doubt.

In Hotel
They serve a late night brunch from 10 pm to 2 am, that great food and great service and great variety. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Travelers who want to take the hotel's complimentary shuttle from the airport should be aware that no pick-ups are available after 10pm.

mixed experience
On the whole, the place is OK. I had a nice suite: comfy bed, large bathroom, etc. My problem was with the service. I was attending a wedding and gift bags were brought to the hotel to be left in the guests rooms. The bag was there in a friend's room, but my bag was not. No one seemed to know what happened to it or to make any apology. Clearly someone stole the gift bag (large fancy shopping bag with wine, nuts, cheese, etc.)and it was not going to be found. They said that they would look, however, yet never got back to me, never offered to replace the items, apologize to the friend's who had left it or any number of things that a service business could do to make-up for this kind of thing. It is a shame because otherwise I would recommend this hotel based on the room, breakfast, and great van/shuttle service.
