Relaxing getaway in the heart of Charleston's historic district

This hotel was in the perfect location for all or most of the best destinations in Charleston - historic houses, tours, resturants, shopping, etc. Beautifully kept in appearance and comfort. The staff are well informed and friendly. One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

You can easily walk to all the homes open for tour, get to other tour start sites (like ghost tours and Carriage rides), get to shopping at the City Market and King Street and walk to the Battery to relax by the water.

Great location, excellent hotel

This hotel is in a great location for people looking to just walk around and tour downtown historic Charleston. The only complaint I would have is that the rooms are a little on the small side, but everything else was excellent.

Good Charleston Experience

The staff is very friendly and accomodating. Although small, the rooms are comfortable and well maintained. I loved being able to walk to along the water and be close to restaurants and art galleries. The neighborhood felt safe and close to shopping and museums. The lobby area had comfortable seating. The only thing missing is an exercise facility. In the warmer months the pool would be an added attraction.

A Charleston Charm

Great location, this warm and cozy hotel has plenty of the charm and Southern hospitality that makes Charleston a special place to visit. Amenities without the glitter, great service without being pushy, this is a comfortable home base while seeing the Charlestion sights. Room wasn't spacious, but beautifully furnished and very comfortable. Great value!

Family vacation

The desk staff was not very helpful. there was an emergency and the call was never put through to our room. The hotel menu was very limited especially for kids. The room was quite small and could have been updated, high price for no view. If I had know it had been recently a Holiday Inn I would not of booked it. Coming from the West Coast I expected better.

Business Trip

Overall the experience was good. It was convenient to stay in the area for me. However, parking was not convenient. It was difficult to park in the front of the hotel even to get your vehicle valet. The hotel was very clean and the staff was very polite. I needed to stay another night however, their rates went up tremendously after my first night stay.

The place to stay if you love the historic downtown

A reminder of the old prosperity and elegance. A positive continuum between the old city and the place of rest at the end of the day. Don't anticipate disappointment!!

Location, Location, Location

Overall, this hotel offered perhaps the best location to stay in downtown Charleston. It was in easy walking distance to everything and had a parking garage behind it which can't be said for all the hotels. It had free Wifi and darn good cell reception within the building which isn't always common anymore. Didn't have any issues and would recommend staying there if you've never been to downtown Charleston. If the beds were a little more comfy I'd put the value at a 5. Although, not bad.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Take the carriage tour of the downtown right when you get there (starts near the old slave market on Market St.) so you can get your bearings as to where everything is located for the rest of your stay.

The Charleston Experience

The hotel and amenities were fine, but the best thing about it is its location. It's within a 10-minute walk of many great restaurants, all kinds of shopping, the Market and much more. If you're a walker, lots of interesting old neighborhood streets close by. The price was quite reasonable compared to other hotels in the immediate area. It's owned by Holiday Inn, but has a very different "feel" to it and there are no Holiday Inn signs or logos to be seen.
