3 day getwaway to Charleston, SC in July

We went to see the downtown market, the Marina and did a Sunset tour. Hotel services were ok as I asked for them to upgrade us to a different room. by two people on the front desk I was told to go to two other different hotels and motels for upgrades. I told them that since I was already staying there it did not make sense to go somewhere else. That is not a good business practice nor good customer service. Compare to previous trips I would say that this trip is right in the middle.

Marcatos Italian and Hyman's were two of the best places to get lunch or diner.

Excellent stay!

Excellent stay. Wonderful pool. Clean, fresh room. Daily newspaper and daily fresh coffee. Free shuttle into historic Charleston tended to run a little behind, but no big deal. Close to all sorts of wonderful views and eats. Would stay here again!

3 Nights in Charleston

Hotel was a great value. Clean and current, helpful staff. My room did not have a view to the river but since the balcony doors are locked shut, it didn't make much of a difference. They have a restaurant on the top floor which makes for a great time. Decent food, and I considered it very inexpensive considering the dinner view we got. I would do this again. Hotel has a shuttle to downtown every 2 hours that took about 10 mins which was a plus.

Very nice

The room was very nice and the view was fantastic. We took the shuttle downtown and it was great not to have to deal with traffic or hunt for a parking space and the driver was very friendly and efficient. The pool was a little small but that's the only negative thing I can think of. The onsite resturant was great.

Money-saving tip: In Hotel

Take the shuttle to downtown Charleston, all those one way streets are confusing and parking is expensive.

Do not stay here.

First of all the Californing Dreaming restaurant and Holiday Inn on Savannah Hwy both came recomended to me. I was highly disappointed with both places. The salads were not that big or was it anything tasty or special. The steak my honey ordered was so dry it looked like it had died a thousands deaths before being placed on the plate. The Long Island Ice Tea had no alcohol in it. I was expecting something strong and relaxing to drink after a long car ride, but evidently that was not going to happen for me. The Holiday Inn which was very dirty. There was old soap left over in the bathroom and pubic hair all over the place. I wanted to throw up! I was grossed out.. It was very confusing trying to get up Lockwood drive and back toward down town. I suggest to future travels to find a place on King street. Best Western and other lower brand hotels on King Street were much nicer, better neighborhood and a tad less expensive. Live and learn I guess. Do not stay at the Holiday Inn..

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

My sweetie and I love to walk. Find yourself a parking lot and leave your car there. We walked for hours and hours every day and went in and out of the little shops and bars. The dining in Charleston is wonderful. You can dine on King Street, Meeting Street or anywhere by City Market.

Excellent, cheap hotel

Although this hotel is further away from downtown Charleston (~6-10 minutes from East Bay St/Market/Meeting) it is a short, easy drive and there is ample parking downtown. It is about a 20 minute drive from Folly Beach. For the price, I think the minor inconvenience of driving is negligible. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Short driving distance to King Street

We wanted a hotel that was close to the historic downtown and King Street that wasn't extremely expensive since we weren't really spending too much time at the hotel. The hotel is about 15 minutes from Folley Beach and a 5 minute drive to King Street which is great boutique shopping, phenomenial restuarants and lots of fun bars.
