College orientation

Beautiful hotel that is right next to the campus of College of Charleston. Staff was very helpful. We didn't use any of the amenities, just not enough time! It is right on King Street so shopping and restaurants are all around you. Easy walk to the water too. Bathroom was very small but clean and functional so it was fine.

Staff lovely

The staff was lovely and very welcoming and helpful. The room nicely appointed, clean, beds very comfortable, view beautiful. Location could not be any better. Allows for walking distance to key points on the city. The bathroom was VERY small - I continuously worried about dropping a piece of clothing or towel in to the toilet by accident. Hooks on back of door too high up for average female to reach. No work out room, no pool but we knew this going in.

Son's wedding

Check in was easy as staff was informative and helpful. Room was nice and perfect for my sister and me. The day of checkout, I had a tuxedo to return but the store was closed and I was leaving for Florida. The staff made phone calls and arranged for tux to be picked up at the hotel.

Francis Marion

The bathrooms are way too small and something just bothers me even about stained chairs even in a historic hotel. We were next to a wedding party celebration which kept us up literally all night. The beds were comfy enough though and the location was pretty good, especially if you want to walk over to Marion Square. They let my car sit out on the street long enough for me to just ask for the keys back so we could go out to dinner. Ok, probably would not stay here again.

Wonderful sister trip

My Sister and I visited Charleston for the first time and we wanted to see some historical sights, do some shopping, fine dining, and just have fun in general. This hotel was perfect in every way and made our stay excellent. The accommodations were charming and comfortable and the staff went the extra mile to make sure we were satisfied. The concierge was so helpful in arranging tours and the restaurant staff was very attentive. We would highly recommend the Francis Marion to folks visiting Charleston for its convenient location and fine quality services provided.

Was a Disappointing Experience

Great location and staff, but the room was a disappointment. The decor was tired. There was a musky smell. The bathroom was very small and awkward. And, there was a long wait for elevator service.

DON'T STAY ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE!!!!!

Fantastic location next to park and King Street shopping and dining. Short distance to waterfront. Rooms were huge with 2 bath rooms and two large beds! Good views over looking Marion Park. Only bad thing, but it's an area thing, is paying for parking next door for $14/nite.

Southern Hospitality at its Best

This lovely grand old hotel was a superb choice for us. We had the most enjoyable weekend which started the minute we arrived at the hotel. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and terrifically kind. Thanks to all who welcomed us to the wonderful city of Charleston.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

Pick up a city map and start your journey on King St. Do a loop and visit the old Market and shops all along the way. There were too many cute and fun shops to name. Enjoy!
