A Thawing Romantic
Classic Charleston Lodging and Dining
[...], the concierge, was the greatest! She got me Kombucha and had it ready for me when I arrived. She also had a refrigerator for my medicine. She is so pleasant and helpful to deal with. The Breakfast buffet was great. Jerome and the other staff were so friendly. I enjoyed the Shrimp and Grits Martini. A wonderful meal. The room was beautiful and wonderfully appointed. The only downside was the air conditioner which had a black mold and had a musty aroma.I would stay there again, but would call ahead and have them check the a/c unit before I arrived.

Short walk from hotel
We took a pedicab from the hotel to the Dock Street Theater and saw a wonderful play. After the show, the same driver took us on a tour and then dropped us at Kominsky's for dessert and coffee. Then a short ride back to the hotel.

Vacation in my own town
Great place to stay!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Francis Marion Hotel. We live just outside Charleston and decided to take a vacation in our town! We already knew where we wanted to go while staying in Charleston and Francis Marion was centrally located to all of the local attractions. The staff was friendly, parking was convenient and reasonably priced, and our room was fantastic. The hotel has historical charm (we had 2 complete bathrooms in our room) but with modern comfort.

The service was excellent. The hotel was nicely appointed but could have used some renovation and better maintenance (old bathroom enamel, dust on mirrors, etc. We were there to see Ft. Sumtner and eat BBQ, en route to Miami.

Excellent service, accomodations, room
In the heart of downtown, the perfect location to view Charleston whether walking or driving to the various historic locations in and around the city. We had a wonderful view of the city from our room. The hotel was clean and the employees were charming and helpful from the valets, housekeeping staff to desk clerks and manager. I will return and recomend the Francis Marion to anyone traveling there.

Great!
Terrific location. Close walk to College of Charleston and shopping on King Street. A little more of a walk, but very manageable, to Market Square and the Battery. In room dining was tasty and prompt. King sized bed was comfortable. Plenty of hot water for long showers. Valet service was great. The only thing that I would love to see, which is included with alot of the old historic hotels, is complimentary afternoon tea. This was the fourth time that we stayed here and we just love it!

Superb location
We are considering relocation to the Charleston area. It is important for us to be close to a city that has a "history", performing arts, culinary delights, etc. Charleston proved to be charming. The hotel location was wonderful, being within walking distance of all the local attractions day & night, yet easily accessible to the roads that would take us elsewhere on our excursions to the surrounding areas. What was missing? FREE parking for hotel guests. We were not anticipating the additional parking expense daily for the 5 days we were there. Missing? Shower caps!
