Location, location very good. Lobby was impressive. Plumbing in shower had to be repaired (7 hrs) than the sink hot water stopped for 1 hour. The staff explained the hotel was built in 1924. Despite the obvious we had a great time in this city.

Girl's weekend
We enjoyed the hotel in Charleston very much. The room was clean and the beds comfy. One complaint is the room was too hot, air conditioning was not working correctly. The location was great as well. Close enough to busy areas, but not too close to be in the busiest/loudest sections of the city. We only stayed one night, so hard to judge on a longer stay.

Entertainment tip:
Long walk from hotel
The music scene was not a middle age group friendly. We had a hard time finding a live band to dance to. There were young bars and older crowds at the jazz clubs, but the crowds were small and quiet. We found Charleston to be a quiet town for a girl's weekend who are in their 30-40's. It was a little formal. We did find some fun the next day at Folly Beach.

Great location!!
The Swamp Fox gives a great dining experience...the hotel location is perfectly located for walking to many shops, bars and restaurants, sight seeing, free trolley rides, etc. Classy old hotel with an accommodating staff and manager...in my first room-deluxe room-the shower water wasn't warm enough and after bringing the problem to the management's attention a couple of days in a row I was upgraded to a suite with my second free bottle of wine certificate included...turn down service with candy included is a lovely touch also!!!

Poor girl is showing her age....
This was, I believe, once a "grande dame" hotel, and while it's still charming, it's showing some signs of needing a face lift. The lobby is a mix of chandeliers and tacky travel fliers, the elevators are gilded yet the carpet is frayed. The room is fine, the bed is very comfortable and the selection of channels is large. Bathroom is small but acceptable. There is no mini bar in the room, but there is a coffee maker. A quick meal in their restaurant was good (if typically southern too filling). Overall it was all fine, I had gotten an inexpensive rate, but it's time for some modernizing.

Food is good but on the typically rich side, as is usual with southern cuisine. Tasty and inexpensive, however.

Comfy upscale hotel
A great choice for our first time in Charleston. The beds were super comfortable. The staff is extremely accommodating and pleasant. It was off season so they upgraded our room and great rate in the off season! A very nice surprise. The location is perfect, walking distance to all the shops and restaurants. The attached parking garage was very convenient with special rates for hotel guests. We are staying at the Francis Marion the next time we visit Charleston.

Weekend Get Away
We had beautiful weather in Charleston for quick weekend get away! Hotel staff was helpful and friendly. We had to get the air conditioning turned on and staff was friendly but needed to fix it. Also TV needed repaired but they did do it right away. The only thing that was uncomfortable was the extremely tiny bathroom. Barely enough room to stand in let alone turn around in. Efficient use of space but not comfortable. Location is excellent and the staff friendly and for this reason, we would stay there again.
