Very disappointed

We booked two rooms, one for my husband and me and the other for our two adult children. We requested one room with a king bed and the other with two queens. We were given two rooms with king beds, so my son ended up sleeping on the couch. For the price we paid ($600), we felt this was ridiculous. The staff was not friendly or helpful about this situation. The location of the hotel was not good either, we had to take taxis or use the shuttle, which Is an extra charge. The breakfast was terrible, but was also an extra charge. We would never stay here again and would not recommend it to anyone else.

To be avoided

There is no restaurant at all on the property and in order to eat anything for dinner you have to take a 6.00 shuttle that only comes every 30 min. After waiting for it for 45 min I found out that it was not coming. I then had to take a taxi for 25.00 to eat dinner. That same night I was awakened by a yelling, cursing man in the hallway with subsequent fighting, yelling and door banging for over 1 hour. Approx 1.5 hours later I was awakened by yet another yelling man in the hallway with door banging and excessive cursing. IN total the hallway was worse than Grand Central Station from 1-3 AM. In the morning I was told that the GM would call me regarding a refund and they never bothered to do so. It was one of the worst nights of "sleep" that I have ever gotten. I would not stay here again! I would be through the roof angry had my children been exposed to this situation!!!

Friendly Staff

My wife was upset that there weren't two rooms so that the kids could sleep while we were up. The next night on our 3 night stay, they put us into a room with a king and a pull out sofa for the 3 and 7 yr old which was fine. The other room had extra room and a beautiful private balcony as well. Friendly people and the pool location is superb.

Great place to unwind

Spent a weekend in November 2011 at this hotel. Staff and amenities were wonderful. Views out the harbor side deck are just great, right on the water. Pool is in a private alcove, not carved out of the parking lot. Only thing to be aware of, it is not where you can walk to mid town Charleston. Short drive, but the hwy is in the way for walking. Plan to drive into the downtown. But for an end of the day relaxing place to end up - this hotel is perfect!

Charleston S. C. Courtyard Waterfront

The staff went out of their way to deal with a reservation glitch and to make recommendations for local dining. The only negative is the relative isolation from the heart of Charleston. Everything is a short drive and parking can be difficult. It was great sitting on the balcony during the evening enjoying the sunset and the river views.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Ask the front desk staff for dining recommendations. There are some very good moderately priced local restaurants within 10 minutes drive time. Reservations are strongly recommended as eating out is popular with the locals.

We stayed overnight prior to heading out to surrounding beach area. Check-in was a snap... Great Southern hospitality. Hotel was very active with lively music by the pool. The room was comfortable. Only 5 minutes drive to downtown. We'd stay here again.

Nice room, great view

Nice hotel, room was clean, the water in the shower was hot (very important!) Great view of the river. Only problem was that I wanted to order food to be delivered but there was no telephone book in the room. Not good. I understand about "going green" and all, but since I was unable to get WiFi working on my laptop, I needed one. I still think they should have local phone books in rooms.
