Wonderful brief stay.
The only thing I objected to was the lack of ability to cancel or change the reservation at a closer time to our visit. My wife has some health problems that crop up at inconvenient times. Not being able to change means a large prepayment goes to waste. I don't know if this results from contracts with you since I think if I had made the reservation directly with the hotel I would have been able to cancel or reschedule up to some time the day I was to arrive. As it turned out, all was well.

If you are going to Charleston, and want a true 5 star experience, this is the only place to stay. They have a perfect city location and the staff is unique -- they listen to your requests, try to make them happen, and are always respectful and friendly. We celebrated Mother's Day and Navy Day with my wife, daughter, grandson, and we all agree that this was the best hotel experince ever. I give them 6 stars stars.

Old world charm
This luxurious hotel is located right in the heart of the Charleston historical district, across the street from the famous covered market. we visited fabulous restaurants, museums, harbor tours and had a wonderful horse drawn buggy tour of the old town. The hotel concierge arranged a tour of a restored plantation that left right from our hotel and were also very helpful recommending 2 excellent restaurants (Hyman's and Jestine's Kitchen) where we were able to sample high quality real southern cooking! Dishes sampled included cat fish, collards, fried chicken, fried green tomatoes and so many more southern favorites!

We stayed on the club level of the hotel which included a club room serving vast amounts of free food and drink including excellent wines from 0630 until 2130 hrs every day. We really only had one meal a day outside of the hotel.

Spring Break
This first class hotel is in the center if all. Parking is convenient for a mere $14 per day - cheap for Charleston. Rooms were very well appointed with mahogany furniture and a nice bathroom. Salt water pool on the 4th floor is heavenly with glass roof, sundeck, and fitness center. Restaurant prices are a little much, more geared to those on business accounts than family travel. Only negatives were that air conditioning in room would not cool below 75 degrees even though it is was in the 50's outside, and the flat screen TV was tiny and not connected to HD cable signal, so it was not clear. On line price helped a lot on the price, but it is still expensive.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
Hanks is a great full service restaurant but very pricey. Fleet Landing is a great place to kick back on the wharf, great happy hour weekdays, and decent fried seafood. One of the better values in the area. Pearlz is also best oyster and shrimp pub on East Bay Street. Crowded, but fun and very reasonably priced. Fish tacos are super too.

Perfect Location
My husband and I found Charleston Place to be very convenient for walking to City Market, most historical homes, many fine restaurants and for tour pick-up. If you are driving, the hotel concierge has printed directions to almost everywhere (including the plantations and the airport), which are easy to follow. The hotel lobby is glamorous and the shopping is excellent.
